Concerned about Site Designer...

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some insights from the community regarding Site Designer and subscription renewals. I've been a loyal CoffeeCup user for over 10 years and have always been impressed by their products. However, I'm feeling a bit hesitant about renewing my Site Designer subscription due to the lack of recent updates.

It's been almost a year since CoffeeCup released any updates for the software, and I'm wondering if this lack of development activity signifies a shift in their priorities or if it's just a temporary slowdown.

I understand that software development can be a lengthy process, but a year with no updates feels like a long time, especially for someone actively using the software.

I'm reaching out to see if anyone has any information about CoffeeCup's development plans for Site Designer. Are there any updates planned for the near future, or can anyone shed light on their current development focus?

Knowing this would be incredibly helpful in making my decision about renewing my subscription.

Thanks in advance for any information or insights you can share!

Hi Chris
You are not the only one with concerns, as far as I can make out, there is one on the way but still not sure when.
There has been some big long needed updates to CC back end stuff, servers and other organisational things, WebFormBuilder is also getting a big update. Things are happening just unfortunate and unavoidable that it has taken so long to get them going .
Rest assured it's coming soon we all hope, hang on in there.

Renewal is only for
(a) updates or
(b) help from the CoffeeCup team.

One can without loss defer renewal until one needs either (a) or (b) above, as shown under the heading 'What happens when my one year of free upgrades and support expire?' at https://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles … ng-policy/ .

I was thinking an update once a year is good unless it's a bug fix. Other software I own makes updates once a year.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

The problem for many users may be that if one pays an annual subscription (for updates etc) , and one doesn't get any updates etc, then that can make one wonder whether one has wasted money on a subscription that hasn't delivered, and could make one reluctant to renew for a further year especially if nothing has happened for one's subscription period.

It's hard to improve on Site Designer as it is a very good piece of software. I think putting in an update for the sake of updating is not the best approach. I do see your dilemma though and when money is tight it can be a tough choice to renew.

Like mentioned before you could always wait to see if there is an update you are interested in renewing for before you take the leap.

Hi All
Might be a bit off subject but for me if you look at nearly a year without updates it kind of makes a subscription service a bit none sensical , however as we all know development of a new webform builder is on its way and i don't know about anyone else but if you look into the backend scripts that WFB has then that has to be a BIG task in it's self . So my thought is this rather than pay for a year subscriptions at the moment i will hang fire and put my Birthday money and treat myself to Deluxe Web Components this way i am updating my tool set for Site Designer and I feel like I am upgrading anyway. it would be nice to have some statement from CC guru to put our minds at rest though even if it's to say when they expect to launch new product's
As Always Keep the Faith it will all come good soon.

How important is it thet you MUST have the latest version straight away? as soon as its releaed. regardless of what it had or hasn't got, what sort of things do you think you require in the upgrade to make it worthwhile and cost effective, that you can't wait another few weeks?

It will still be there in a few weeks to download whether you update your subscription now or then.

One major change which may or may or may not be important to you is the introduction od a 'LIGHt/DARK mode., (the light version still in Beta, but maybe of benefit for some I am in the middle of preparing a demo video of the new version and in particular the Light Dark mode, for another user, if you would like to have a look-see when it's ready you can email me and I will let you know when /where it's available.
