Hi James,
version 18 mainly adds new features, security fixes, and performance improvements over 17 build 882. If your current setup works fine, you don’t have to upgrade immediately, but updating ensures better stability and access to new features.

Hi James,
Version 18 includes several improvements over build 17.882 — mainly better performance, enhanced security updates, and a more modern interface. You’ll also get bug fixes, updated compatibility with newer systems, and a few workflow refinements that make daily use smoother.
If your setup is stable and you don’t rely on older plug-ins, the upgrade is generally worth it.

Hi James — I dug about, but couldn't find any clear public changelog detailing version 17 build 882 vs version 18 of Direct FTP (or whatever program you're referring to). What I can promise is that moving from one large version to the next usually means you will receive more than mere bug fixes — enhancements to stability, performance optimizations, better support for newer OS or server platforms, and likely user interface or workflow optimizations.

There is a lengthy description at https://www.coffeecup.com/forums/html-e … post299263 of the things that were changed in the upgrade of The HTML Editor to version 18.

Hey James! From what I’ve seen, Version 18 mainly brings some nice performance boosts, smoother workflow, and a few bug fixes compared to your current Version 17 (882). It’s also a bit more secure and plays better with newer systems.
If your current setup’s running fine and you’re not missing any features, you don’t have to rush the upgrade. But if you want better stability and future compatibility, it’s probably worth making the jump — nothing drastic has changed, just some solid improvements under the hood.
