I'm a former Dreamweaver (outdated version) user and looking for a new updated editor for a new site and blog. My question is fairly simple.
The Responsive Layout Maker...is it an editor as well or is it only for designing templates?

I'm a former Dreamweaver user myself. Responsive Layout Maker (RLM) is a responsive wireframe maker. It is not an editor. HOWEVER, there are enough elements (text, text links, paragraphs, headings (1-6), forms, and so on) that RLM includes, it does just about everything except for the fine tuning of the web site design.

Most importantly, however, is what RLM does for you. If you are designing responsive web sites by hand with your old version of Dreamweaver, you are going to LOVE RLM! Between initial design and tweaks made during programming, it cuts days off my programming time. It also makes responsive programming MUCH easier!

For actual html editing, Coffeecup has a free HTML Editor for Windows. (There is a paid version with extra features available as well). The learning curve going from Dreamweaver to HTML Editor is very short. When you put the two programs, RLM and HTML Editor, you'll have everything that you need for designing your web site. You'll end up doing most of the work in RLM and polishing it off in HTML Editor.

Brian...Thanks for your great response. I'm not as advanced a web designer as you might be led to believe from someone who uses Dreamweaver. I'm still a work in progress.

If I understand you correctly, I could use one of CoffeeCup's customizable responsive themes or I could go full tilt and design my own from the start with RLM? Am I making perfect nonsense?
