List,
Hi. I am checking out Coffee Cup for a friend and have some questions. I did check but could not find answers. If the info exists, please provide links and I'll do the research.
-where is the documentation? I couldn't find it.
-can the HTML files be opened and edited?
-can the CSS files be opened and edited?
-can the HTML files be opened in other HTML editor programs? I would like to be able to view, edit and email files between myself and the end user.

Which application are you inquiring about?

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.
This is a site I built for my work.(RSD)

This is a site I built for use in my job.(HTML Editor)
https://pestlogbook.com
This is my personal site used for testing and as an easy way to share photos.(RLM imported to RSD)

Eric,
Well, your response tells me that I don't know as much as I thought I did. What are the applications?

Hmmm.......
I didn't know they were two different programs but thought they were one with two options. So can my questions be applied to both? And, to use both for one website does it require the download of both?

I checked the description of both editors. I missed this the first time around because I made some assumptions, my mistake. I did manage to find some answers but not all.
Visual Designer
The description did not mention access to and edit of the underlying HMTL or CSS. Can it be?
HTML Editor
This mentions acess to the HTML but not the CSS files. Can they both be opened and edited?
Am I correct in that you have to choose between one or the other and that both are not available in one editor?
Sorry, I still can't find the documentation. Can someone provide a link?

Hi Norma,
Visual Site Designer is software which lets you create your own web site without needing to have any CSS or HTML knowledge. It's a very snazzy WYSIWYG editor and there are many useful themes available to get you off to a great start. http://www.coffeecup.com/designer/
HTML Editor is a code editor for the brave among us who can write markup and design web sites using html and css. It too has a myriad of templates but as it's a raw text editor (with many great tools), you can have complete control over the code. http://www.coffeecup.com/html-editor/
Both applications are available as fully functioning 30-Day trial versions, so download both and have a go. Then you can make an informed decision and buy whichever one suits your needs, or buy both if you like.
In both cases, the files are regular .html text files so you can open and edit them in any html or text editor with ease if that's what you choose. In the case of Visual Site Designer, the styles are in the html markup for each page, but in the case of HTML Editor you can create your own .css files and reference them from the HTML.
Have fun
David

Hi again Norma,
Here's a link to the HTML Editor vs Visual Site Designer, in the words of Coffeecup themselves:
http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/html-editor-vs-visual-site-designer/.
The links in my previous post should also help you to see the two applications and their respective features. There is documentation in the form of a comprehensive help document, included with the installation of each application.
If anything else is unclear, just ask

David,
Thanks for the info. This last link is just what I need.

David,
I do have one last question about the Visual Designer. I noted in the example images in the description that the css was inline only. Is this correct?
Is there an option for styles in the head, imported styles or to link to a css file?

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
