Preview tab missing - Post ID 202515
I've been using Dreamweaver for years but am thinking of switching to CoffeeCup. I downloaded a trial version but it does not display the Preview, Code Editor and Visual Editor tabs. How do I bring these up?
Hi Larry,
Which Coffeecup application are you evaluating?

The HTML Editor, version 12.7.
Hi again Larry,
There is no visual editor element to The HTML Editor, this was dropped as the advent of HTML5 coupled with Microsoft's decision to drop support for the resources that the visual editor element depended upon meant it was removed from the software a few revisions back.
Also, the preview is not employed as a tab any more, it's now available via a live preview in your default browser using CTRL-F9 or in any other installed browser using menu option: Tools->Additional Browsers.
The HTML Editor is a code editor at heart, so the visual editor element was never really at home in this software. With it gone, Coffeecup can concentrate on improving the worlds best code editor and evolving it as the markup standard evolves.
There is a visual editor available as a separate application however, it's called Visual Site Designer and while it allows you to introduce custom code, alter header items and do lots of other useful things, it is not a code editor in its own right.
Visual Site Designer is here: http://www.coffeecup.com/designer/ if you'd like to explore it as a companion to HTML Editor.

Thanks, David.
The part about the visual editor was going to be my next question but you answered it. I'll continue to evaluate CoffeeCup during this trial period to see if it fits my needs.

Hi Larry,
If you have any further queries, just ask.
You might find this insight useful in exploring the two applications:

If you need to gather information, collect payments or just offer a contact form, do check out Web Form Builder too. It supports adaptive elements, payment processing and many other great tools. It's also the world's first such software to implement responsive design: http://www.coffeecup.com/web-form-builder/
