Password Protected Pages - Post ID...

I recently sent this inquiry to the team at Coffee Cup

On Coffee Cups main landing page is an example of a page where the user has to log in to gain access to the site. How do I do that? Do you have a pre made component that sets that up for you? You no longer have the Website Access Manager software for sale so how do I do that? I love Coffee Cup software, I hope that there is finally a way to do this.

Sales & Support ManagerGreetings Phillip,

A password log in would be accomplished with a Content Management System. We unfortunately, do not offer any solution for that at this time.

How does one get a Content Management System? Coffee cup is glad to show websites on their page but doesn't support anyone wanting to do this type of work. I need help either learning how to do this or even am willing to hire someone to do this type of work for me or teach me how. It's disappointing that Coffee Cup can't see the need for this type of work but tease their customers with websites showing this type of feature. Regardless, I need help. Is there anyone out there who can help me. My coding skills are zero to none.

Hi Philip
Exactly what do you need for password protected pages

The reason I ask is there are a number of services available online that can do this sort of thing, but the costs varty

for example

do you with a user to log into their own page specific to them or to a general page that everyone who has registered can use

Once again the costs for these sort of things can vary quite a but, some plans based on number of log in requests per month, or one off costs which depend on the sort of size envisaged.

also nowadays one is moving away from password protected pages to password less in so much as there is a two step verification requires (which is actually more secure, but more complicated to set up) in so much that when a user requests a log in, they are sent either a message to their email address or to their contact number requesting verification it was them requesting it.

A really simple one can be achieved using WFB but it's not 100% foolproof and still requires a lot of messing around.

Wayan,

Thank you for responding to my post. I want to restrict certain content to members of my organization. I have WFB and would be interested in how to make that work.

Hmm still need clarity

Do you want the users to create their own password or use one that you created ? (same password for every user?)

Use a prebuilt php login script.
They are easy to add to your site and it gives you control over your content and users.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

The methods for restricting online access to web pages may seem somewhat intimidating.

If all members are to use the same password, and the restricted content is not constantly changing, one could simply put such content into downloadable password-protected PDF files - or even downloadable password-protected zip files of web pages generated by export from Site Designer.

The above might not be suitable for those wanting content on mobile phones, but I guess musical folk would use devices with decent sized screens. In particular, music scores would not seem appropriate for viewing on mobile phones.

Hi
Frank is right that way is the easiest way and with a little bit of trickery boo wfb can be used to good effect and makes it appear more personal, there is an even simpler way in that most hosting services have an option to apply a password to pages right there on the space, however it should be noted that this way isn't a really safe or secure way,
Eric is also correct about plenty of PHP scripts out there the problem with that is for someone with even a little knowledge it is quite complicated daunting as easy to make huge errors, but it is more secure, then the other thing is that to really make it as safe and secure as possible one also needs a database linked to the form to keep track of users error checking etc etc.

I use the hosting password protected method along with wfb for anyone that I do personal tution for or build websites for, just as a temporary way for them to follow along with or check latest progress etc. It works very well for something as basic as that. I then use a secure log on sign up form with all the necessary gubbins to make it work and SD to make it look pretty. I finally use one that is done through a third party that is passwordless and they get a message on a phone or email that they then must click to confirm its them trying to log on. This method is quite easy to set up but does require some modecom of knowledge but is the most secure way around, I us that for pages like shopping cart or for personal details we might need. There is a cost involved for that but it's peanuts at around 85 dollars for 10'000 logins
At the end of the day it still boils down to exactly what you are wanting something like that for
