Em Dash - Post ID 300240
How do I insert an em dash in Site Designer?
If you need to use characters that are not on your keyboard, there are three methods:
1. if you find the character somewhere in use, copy it and paste it into the SD canvas.
2. If you don't find it anywhere but have HTML Editor or some other coding editor, produce it there and preview, then do as in #1.
3. If none of the above applies, do as in the attached file. The two normal dashes on the canvas will be changed out by means of what is added to the Content code box on the Element pane when you preview in a browser.

This site was made before we were able to create components through the app:
Component sharing for RFF, RBB, RSD and SD: https://eikweb.com/sharing/
My work in progress right now:
Components for the same as above + HTML Editor: https://mock-up.coffeecup.com

Thank you, Inger, that was very helpful!

You could always use the EM style in the text editor
highlight the bit of text you want to style
move on up to "inline elements" and select the EM tag which is the second tag on the top row,
I usually keep the character highlighted and increase the size by a couple of pixels, maybe make it 600 semi-bold too if it needs it.

For those using Windows 11, I think the quickest way is to press Win+v and go to Symbols > General punctuation. Just clicking on the m-dash inserts it in the text.

In Win 10 you only get to a simple clipboard (by clicking on Win + V). It hasn't got all the options as in Win 11.

when in the text editor — at the position you want to insert an em —
on the keyboard for pc
press
alt+ctrl+minus on the numeric keypad
on a mac press
option+shift+hyphen key
(can't test that on a mac as I don't use a mac, maybe someone can test it and confirm it works)
Then to make it stand out even more we can change the colour, or the strength (600 semi-bold) if required

Well now here's the thing
In site designer it worked just the one time, thereafter it just placed it as a normal - (go figure that one out)
So back to Franks solution

Windows 10 users can use the key code. Press & hold the Alt key, then 0151 from the numeric keypad.
Looks like this —
Doesn't work with the regular number keys and I don't know about Windows 11.
