I followed the export and upload with FTP client directions, and it worked like a charm! Thanks, guys. I'm glad these threads stay around a while for us folks having the exact same problems but can't solve them with a new laptop...One day soon, tho!! Mine is 5 years old! It's a dinosaur! I need a new one to hold all of my new amazing CC software...that I plan to buy after some trial versions get me through some paid gigs!!

Excellent Michelle :) Sounds like you are up and running now
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

Here's what a folder created by the export function looks like. All the files and folders included need to be uploaded to your server.

I cannot get all of the files to export (the php files are never created, I guess) nor will they ftp via the trial software

That's NOT going to happen Dave... She HATES everything about computers. She only tolerates my obsession with them, cause we've had a good life through my working with them.

Are you using the internal ftp or an external one?

So, I have the similar prob. with the base .php files never getting created. the internal ftp just spins and spins. WSFTP will send the files, but they aren't created, although the rest appear to be there. Suggestions? I have 6 days left on the trial:D

Sounds like you might have got a bad download. Try redownloading the cart again.

Valerie, I'd love to be able to help, but I don't have any real idea why this is happening to you. I believe that the trial versions are supposed to offer full functionality, but it's possible that CC doesn't want you to be able to build a functioning shop with it. Perhaps someone (Scott? Jay?) can provide a conclusive answer.

Here are a few things I would try, were I sitting at your computer:
Save the shop with a different name and close the program. Restart SCC and open the shop with the new name. Try to export this new shop & see if the .php files are created.

Build a small new shop from scratch, perhaps with just one product -- just enough to try to see if the export will work this time.

Uninstall, clean the registry with Piriform's CCleaner (freeware), then reinstall the trial version and repeat the first two steps.

If all else fails -- see if you can open a help ticket. Explain that you're reluctant to purchase software that you can't seem to make work, but that you really want to resolve this issue so that you can buy it. You have 6 days, and CC support will usually respond very quickly.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
