Hi
I replaced the link with my own link, i just editet the xml files in styles / template folder.
And it is not only the cart.xml, all others have the link. I even translate the cart to portuguese. I have post that in another trend.
regards

PS I really like CC software but I didn't like that link.

So, does that mean you remove the labels and ID's off of your home appliances etc, so when people come to visit your not giving "free" advertising for those companys? Most every car I follow has an "ad - label" on the back stating who they bought the car from? Do you take that off?
I didn't think so.
Just my two cents

Sorry rodgw,
I have to disagree with you on this one. I think it is pretty obvious when buying a refrigerator it should have the manufacturer's name and logo on it, the same with a car. When I purchase a car from a dealership I have them remove their ad sticker as well as those cheesy license plate frames they tend to install. I don't believe in free advertising at the expense of the customer, and in this case, without the permission of the customer.

My point is when you create a website for a customer; they more than likely expect you to be the genius that created the product. If I created a site with Dreamweaver, DHTML Menu, Logo Creator, Photoshop, and several other tools in the development of the site, it would look ridiculous if I had advertising links for every single tool I used. Absolutely unprofessional.

I don't believe if I removed a dealership sticker or license plate frame from a vehicle it would void my warranty or my ability for support. Removing the link from this product apparently is not illegal and Coffecup does not mind, however, they will not support the product if you do. NOT COOL! Although I’m am able and know where to remove the link, it’s a hassle I should not have to deal with.

I think everyone is being completely ridiculous about this. Having the page say it was created by coffeecup does in no way make it seem unprofessional. The thing had to be made by something. Even if you write every single line of code yourself you are still using some kind of tool to do it. A mechanic that knows everything there is to know about cars still needs tools to get the job done. Who cares if everyone knows what tool you used to create it. Having said that, and even though I will still leave it there(I love coffecup and want everyone to know about their products), it would still be nice to give the people that don't want it the ability to nremove it.
And as far as those of you who say you build websites for clients so you don't want people to know you need a tool to get the job done since you can't do it yourself without it, I am glad I am not a client of yours. If you need this tool to create the websites you sell you are no better than I am, and I have no education at all when it comes to programming. And you are being dishonest to them by letting them believe you actually have the knowledge to do this all by yourselves. Coffeecup software enables me to do it all by myself, with no knowledge on how it actually works. You want your clients to think you actually know what you are doing, pretty pathetic if you ask me.

You know, as I've followed this footer deal, and considering my own thoughts, I've sorta come to the conclusion that:
It may not be the coffeecup credit that's bugging some... it's the inability to actually have a quick 'custom footer'... in addition

The 'creator' deserves his 'copyright', We're using it under license. CC could have been more blatant with a "copyright" notice.

So, when I modified mine, I modified CC's line slightly to acknowledge their "copyrights" in a subtle manner, as CC had done.

Why the heck not, Folks? Seems like Scott has been saying they'd look into adding a 'footer' modification on an updated version...

Besides, we've told everyone how to modify it in posts above...
I think... therefore, I'm in a mess....

We are listening to your requests and I am pretty sure it is something you will find as an option in an upcoming release.
I have purchased Shopping Cart today/yesterday, and I was surprised for the link. This is why I am on this thread. Thank you very much for listening, but after something must be done. It doesn't need much time to change 2 lines of code and put on the upgrade.
Wavering is to treat customers as dupes. Please set a date for the upgrade, so we will continue to love coffeecup and will forget this not nice issue.
Good idea to set the footer customizable.

We (the customers) will be glad to stop this void grinding.

Please, put a post to inform the audience when the upgrade will appear in the "Your software" list. Thank you very much.

Dave....
Not all of us in this thread have ben 'complaining'. Thank you for posting that 'image', but that is still not an option yet (or so it seems). I just downloaded the CoffeeCup Shopping Cart this morning, and it's not there. Maybe you can tell these kind folks where and when they can get that version number download.
Edited: I saw the version number at the bottom of the image after my original post, so I removed my question about the version number.
