Are forms on other host providers called data bases? Someone please explain to me how forms work on other providers besides coffee cup, when I was at netfirms decades ago I had not started using forms but it did come with an email address and that was really nice. I know that I have to use the c-panel and direct ftp to upload site designer but I do not know how forms work on other site provider services.

Hi Greg
Do you have the latest version of web form builder? and do you mean that you have a link to a form on a site designer page that you have published to your hosting service? which you would now like to have the form on that page hosted locally? rather than a link?

Hi Greg,
Form data saving to a database is usually pretty simple.
Make a database on your host.
Add a user to the database and set their credentials.
Don't add a table to your database if you're using the form builder. Enter the info for your database and user info into your Form settings and when you submit the form the form builder will create the table you enter within the form settings.

If your building your own form within Site Designer or the HTML editor you will need to add the table to the database and alter your php script to submit to it.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I had netfirms years ago and did not use forms, had email address and telephone # on site and really really did not like forms so I did not want to subject my potential customers to something that I myself hated. Moved my site to CC S-drive they literally really pushed the hell out of forms, eventually they talked me into using forms. I have been using forms on CC for years now on S-drive. When I shop for other site providers none of them even mention the word form on any of their information about their provider services. So, I am at a complete loss to know how forms would work anywhere except on CC S-drive. That is what I am asking about. How forms work on C-panel provider services?

I found my web form builder CC app It was not on my desktop I had to download some required files from windows update to install the application I thought it was already installed but no. Reviewed its help information looking at posting a completed form. They are real big on completely instructing for S-drive but as for any other provider the instructions are practically impossible. Explains why I see so many questions about it addressed to Eric here on the forums. I did not purchase the latest forms app., was always buying super pack and was not time for me to purchase. Then they started changing the pack raising the price and lowering the included items like 6 months host provided instead of a year. So now that my S-drive renewal is coming up I am shopping for new providers. I like having a C-panel they really are handy for fixing some problems like with indexing of url's. Sorry I'm so long winded on this and thank you Erik for your good answer.

Hi again Greg
So in order to get your form(s) working on your domain, you need log in and check what version of (PHP)they support. Nowadays most hosting services support PHP V8 some may still support lower versions but it's unlikely.
That's why I asked about your version off WFB because the latest version supports PHPv8 earlier versions do not.

That is the first consideration
Secondly

You will need to create an Email account with your service provider (if you haven't already)
Then you need get the configuration details for that email account (you will need them later when you have exported the cc form)

If you have "Googles recapture thingy on your form then you will need first to create the secret and site keys on your Google recaptha account. Then on your form you need change the recapcha element from "Automatic" to manual and ener the codes google created for the site captcha keys, in the appropriate place webform builder displays.

When you have done that you are ready to "MANUALLY XPORT" your form.WFB Will then create the code you need to put on the page that you want it to appear on, and will create a folder with all the necessary files needed to make the form work on your hosting provider.

You then need to open that folder and look for the file "user configuration" this is where you then edit it to match the email account details from your hosting service.

Once you have done that you are now ready to export both your site designer files and the webform builder files, to your hosting service as usual.

If you are talking about a website form hosting service then( anfd there are many around) then how they work and how you set them up so that your form works on your domain but is hosted on a new webform hosting service, is different with homesoever you decide upon to use.

I have a step by step tutorial for setting up a form and manually export it to hosting service and setting up everything on cpanel etc. (obviously some settings will be different but many users have managed to successfully set up a form on their website.

I do believe there is something somewhere on cc site about this, but I am away from my desk for the this week, but Eric or Frank and or Inger will probably be able to point you to the correct place (there may even be other users too)

Hope that helps a little
Wayan

Ha now I see you don't have a domain for your website other than SDrive, so then you maybe and you are probably going to be looking at the options for either hosting a webform on a speciality hosting service, there are quite a few to choose from from the internet, it's pretty straight forward to set thing up that way, it may even be that they also provide the google recaptha service too. In which case all you need to do is choose one of then and follow their instructions as to how to configure the settings to show your form.

For instance before I started using CCUP Software I used a service called formbuddy.com (hope I don't get into trouble for suggesting another form hosting service). I found it very easy to set up and it worked just fine, but not as professional looking as hosting the website and the form on the same domain. They are still around.

For many situations I think that the forms in Inger's Component Shop ( https://mock-up.coffeecup.com/ ) are worth studying.

I have my S-drive website listed below my name here workhorsepainting.com listed it here again. My one and only long time form is on there and it was created with the previous webform builder from CC so it is not up to date. I probably am going to soon retire my painting web site because I am 71 yrs old and have not done a painting job in a few years. I have closed the bank account for the business, I have been on CC for like 14 years and was on netfirms before that and all the while has been for the painting website which I made for my business. For about 8 years now I have not gotten one hit from a customer on the web site. I have received a few hits on the form from people looking for a job from me or people trying to sell me something but no customer inquiries. That is distressing. Before the sites went responsive I used to get a fair amount of business from the site, enough to legitimize having it. This is why I ask about SEO here on the forum. I think my SEO got really messed up when I tried using two domains on the one site, that was a nightmare. Also I have found that it is difficult to get google indexing straightened out with out a c-panel. When I try reading google instructions my brain starts smoking. Google Workforce is also messing me up, I do not want it and it has me by the ass and won't let go, they keep for years threatening to cancel it and they never do so I am in perpetuity hijacked by google and for the life of me do not know how to get it gone. Google is kind of a love hate relationship.
I am or having been meaning for years now to make a new site sobercert.com I have been giving out to in recovery people on their sober anniversaries on online recovery sites or social media, certificates of sobriety. Think I have given out thousands of them all over the world. I want to start selling them online for supplemental income. I think that that site would need one or two forms on it and maybe even 3, I guess it would depend on how it would work. I'm mainly thinking about moving providers to see if I can get better traffic on other providers or even other site building software. Open to advice on the issue. Also make certified angels of mercy for nurses, wedding anniversary tributes, wonderful persons awards. Made Trump up the one attached for his campaign.
