Unable to manage my site
Ok novice here. I have a website which functions well but am trying to amend some of the content. I can download the html off the web via coffee cup html editor and then upload it back to my site. But the amended version does not work or appear on the site.
Also when I use the Coffee cup Direct FTP, I get the message "the HTTP server sent a page that direct fttp does not recognise as a directory lsiting, do you want to open the page using your default web browser".
Help, please!!!!

I should have mentioned that the Direct FTP only shows me the image files (png etc) from my site but not the content Html etc
A link to your site would be useful, so that we don't have to make unqualified guesses.
To your second mail, has the DFTP been set to show just the content of your image folder? In that case, go up one folder (click on the folder with the up arrow).

Always worth a try, do Ctrl & F5 on a page you have edited, in your browser , see if that shows up the changes

I would dbl check your ftp setting to make sure your uploading to the proper directory.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

DFTP = Direct FTP

Humpfrey, visited your site and it appears to be working ok now. Is that the original you want to change or it is fixed now?

Hi Humphrey,
Nice to see a fellow Irish user on here :-)
In your 1st post you use the word novice, so excuse me if this is a bit too basic, but when you open a downloaded html file in CC HTML Editor and make changes, are you saving your changes before then uploading?
It's also a good idea to use CC Direct FTP to look at the time & date of creation of the file on your server side to see if the upload has been a success. You can also use the preview feature in CC HTML Editor to see what your changes are like prior to upload.
In Direct FTP are you aware of the folder/file tree and can you see how to change from folder to folder to access the various files. The structure should mirror the directory/file structure on your computer from where you uploaded them and from where you can open the website locally on your machine to see it run in your browser.
Finally, make sure that you are actually uploading the revised html file(s) to the correct folder and overwriting the existing file(s), otherwise the change will not be evident on the live website.
The site looks well by the way, so well done for a novice
