I Feel like I got Punched in the face...

Wow, I think I was just dealt the fatal blow. I can't believe that I can't use my merchant account (First Data) for processing credit cards here on Coffee Cup Shopping Cart. What a let down. I was so friggen excited that everything here seemed so great. Then...BAMM! Socked right in the face. It hurts. Wow. I can only use paypal or google or the fee heavy gateways that CC likes. This should be clearly laid out in the Shopping Cart features pages. It should say " you can only use the merchant services that we here at CC like, not the one you have been using for years". This would have saved me hours and not left a person with a bitter taste in their mouth about CC.
I have spent hours here checking everything, used the forums, contacted support downloaded some of the trial software. It seemed so easy, and I couldn't wait to get started. It almost sounded too good to be true....and then....it was.....
Bad enough that I can't put a coupon code in the shopping cart...oh well I could live with that, but I think this is a major deal breaker. Sorry to seem so mad...but really?
Funny,I have been searching all over for an easy web building service and host. I just read an interview on a site two days ago, from an owner of a company that only accepted paypal for a couple of years, he made the move to start accepting credit cards through his shopping cart, and his business exploded. I don't know what to do now. This stinks.

We actually have that on our website. ;)

Easy integration with PayPal Express Checkout and Website Payments Standard
Support for Google Checkout, Authorize.Net, WorldPay, and 2Checkout

The problem with merchants is not all of them have an easy to use API to connect with. That is why we have chosen these merchants to work with.

You can show me a link that says...Support for Google Checkout, Authorize.Net, WorldPay, and 2Checkout..but it doesn't say ONLY these.

Scott, with all do respect to you and the CC staff, the products you offer seem great. BUT, there are major credit card processing companies that are easily connected to. You just have to be willing to do it. I have searched for "credit card processing" in the forums and when people question why they can't use their card processor sometimes you say...."because this is meant to be a simple way for people to have a store". And others you say "we can't support all of the different processors out there". This time it's "not all of them have an easy API to connect with". But how about saying "we do not want to spend the money for security compliance and not be liable for any fraud committed from people using our cart".
The merchants you chose to work with charge huge fees to us little guys who already pay big fees to our existing processing companies. There are many HUGE processors out there that CC could connect to in minutes, but your cart software would need to be secure.
My problem seems to be the #1 complaint among all of the forums. Seems time you do something about it.
Does CC get a percentage of the sales generated to these " merchants you chose to work with" from CC shopping carts? That would be the only reason I could see why CC is so resistant. :)

Java please remember i am a CC client, not staff so please do not shoot the messenger

And Scott I will appolgise in advance , because i know you will hate this reply

CC provide simple software, and simple programs aimed at people who are new to web design

They very much like the word intuitive (simple even idiot proof)

i tried loads of cart systems before coming to CC hardly had a single sale, spent hundreds of hours doing things the hard way

But because of the simple approach here within one week i had my site live, and within one month i had a constant flow of sales mainly i agree from people who in them selves were new to ordering from the internet so liked the Paypal ( or Paypooooo ) approach

I prefer to pay Paypal 3.5% per transaction, than the alternative of paying in advance, or monthly fees to a merchant account, why pay up front, because again for a first time internet seller more expense at the outset.

Further more, having been an old fashioned bricks and mortar shop keeper for 30 years, spending £60,000 appx per shop to set up, now in semi retirement my CC shop cost me about £150.00 to set up and i am enjoying taking orders worry free every week knowing that its just costing me 3.5% commission to Paypoo and £25.00 per year (yes per year) hosting.

By the by, about 50% of my customers, mainly the bigger £250.00 + sales pay by direct bank transfer, usually after requesting giving me there details over the phone assuming i have that option.

so i guess CC for its basic clients have it about right

HOWEVER : it has been suggested numerous times that they create a more commercial version of SCCP, suitable for bigger businesses , their reply always has been, the price of such a program would be prohibitive !

My guess is for the cost of producing it, and the lack of response they will get, upwards of £1000,00 per license.

I hasten to add i was quoted £3000,00 by a professional web developer to set my shop up 4 years ago

So my £150.00 investment in CC (set up on a free trial) seems reasonable to me :)

Have you tried Magento Cart, its free and i think it does what you want, though i did waste about 3 months trying to understand it myself , and gave up

If it works ok you then pay for the licensed version which is a little more expensive than CC

http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/users/2733/ This months worst sheep, ever... Seriously. Blaze a path sir, don't follow in one. This is how a CC Ambassador is encouraged to treat people? By trying to ridicule their statement? I have a legit complaint, and you think my reasoning is bogus. iiIii Read between the lines Mr. Selllers:) Viv Thank you for your sincere reply. I can see how CC will get someone up and running quick and simple. Searching the forums, people want to have more options than what SCCP gives them. As far back as the forums go. Give the people what they want.

Since you are showing up here as a 'guest' and not a 'registered user' I reckon you haven't bought the SCCP yet. Be glad you haven't, and praise yourself lucky that you did do a test run with the trial before buying. Now that you know that what you want is not supported, you don't have to waste your money.

We have seen and followed the development of the SCCP from when it was first launched. To begin with it was only Paypal that was supported. Then by and by more card processing systems were added. The CC staff want to be absolutely certain that it will work, so they don't implement too much at the same time. Maybe if you check back after some months you will find more paying systems added.

I can see that you are disappointed, but after your first blast and Scott's answer to that, you should have realized that your payment system was not supported - yet. Rubbing your disappoinment in by continuing to post about this doesn't help, Sorry to have to say so, but that's the way it is. :)

Good luck with one of the other shopping carts out there. Some people say that Zen Cart is fairly easy.
Ha en riktig god dag!
