I have used both Chrome and Edge and neither will let me download the trial version of Designer. I get a warning that the file is not often downloaded, so I cannot get a file to install the trial version. I cannot even override the warning. I am trying to find software to replace Dreamweaver. I don't want to pay $99.00 until I find out if i like the program. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Never Mind. Firefox finally downloaded it and it installed, but there was not intuitive way to work on or import a preexisting page or website. So, I am still searching to replace Dreamweaver. :-)

Hi,

That warning is usually generated by Chrome or Edge's security features when a file hasn't been downloaded frequently enough to build a reputation score. It doesn't necessarily mean the software is unsafe.

A few things you can try:

* Download the installer using a different browser such as Firefox.
* Check your browser's Downloads page to see if there's a "Keep" or "Download anyway" option available.
* Temporarily disable overly aggressive antivirus web protection if you're comfortable doing so, then re-enable it after downloading.
* Contact CoffeeCup support and ask whether they have an alternate download link for the trial version.

Since you're coming from Dreamweaver, I'd definitely recommend trying the trial before spending $99. Everyone's workflow is different, and features that work well for one developer may not suit another.

If you continue having trouble with the download, it may be worth posting the exact warning message or a screenshot so others can determine whether it's a browser reputation warning, SmartScreen block, antivirus restriction, or something else.

Good luck with the search for a Dreamweaver replacement! Finding the right web design tool can sometimes feel like solving a Letter Boxed puzzle—there are several possible paths, but only a few that fit your workflow perfectly. A Letter Boxed solved puzzle often comes down to finding the right connection, and choosing the right editor is much the same.
