OK.. First off, not impressed with the generic forum where ALL the presales questions go for all of the Coffee Cup products. Definitely not impressing me or encouraging to me as a potential customer.

I've downloaded the Form Builder. There's a few security features I'm looking for but don't see in the Form Builder.

1. IP Filtering - Being able to ban an IP or IP block from accessing the form.

2. Referer Filtering - This checks to make sure that the submission is only from the form on your website.

3. Blocking email addresses - I want to be able to check to see if the email address is from a certain domain, such as yahoo.com or hotmail.com. If it is then the user would be given an error message.

Forums are for users to talk with other users. If you have questions you want the staff to answer, you open a support ticket. That is the nature of a forum Nick. ;)

That would be something done at the server level. Form Builder creates a contact form. You can use our Access Manager for that.

2. Referer Filtering - This checks to make sure that the submission is only from the form on your website.

That is not an option in the software. Once you export the form you do have access to all the scripts so making these changes is certainly possible.

I'm well aware of the nature of a forum having run forums before.

Then what is the issue with these forums? You'll find them to be one of the most used that you have visited for help, and one of the most helpful ones you have used also. Forums are forums, there is no right or wrong way to use them, and personally I think these are very well setup. And having run and set up dozens of them myself over the years, I think I have a fairly good idea of what is and isn't useful or helpful.

Just ask what you need answered and you'll see not only users here, but staff also (as Scott has already shown). There are not many people that walk away from here that don't get there answers in multiple forms and ideas. No need to be rude about things, and to be honest, when you are rude you will usually prompt people to either be short with there help or ignore you completely.

Good luck.

I do not feel I was rude. I simply disagree with the idea of forcing those that have not purchased a product to be lumped in to a catch-all forum. That is, all questions for all products are in this one forum/subforum I personally prefer a system where all the questions/concerns for a product are in that product's forum. Granted, it is their forum and their choice to set it up how they like.

I have discovered thus far that one simple disagreement with the way things are setup warrants hostility. I've seen three posts that basically say I don't know what I'm talking about even though none of them know anything about me. Granted, the responses appeared to have been deleted within minutes of posting, which does say a lot about the monitoring of the forums. i don't expect anyone to agree with me. However, I did not personally attack the forum or personally attack the website and was attacked.

I do appreciate Scott's quick and informative response.

Wait wait wait...
If you browse through the forums here, you will find a lot of disagreement with most things related to CoffeeCup. There are always some guys who think things should be made differently, and their posts don't get deleted. It happens in between, that some posts get moved because the topic should have been discussed elsewhere (in such cases the poster gets a notification), and of course, if someone has cross posted the same question/opinion or whatever in several forums, in those cases some of those posts get deleted.

I agree, you were not rude. But in your very first post here you started complaining, not even having given us a chance to give you any reply, or help or opinion. It's not rude, but it is not very polite, nor wise, either. Everyone here will get much farther with a touch of friendliness.

There is a reason for all questions from people who are 'guests' (not having bought anything yet) being lead into the 'welcome' discussion group. The reason is spam. Earlier, when guests were allowed to post everywhere, the whole forum was awash with 'offers too good to be true', and those of us who are helping with monitoring the forums had a helluva job nuking them all. Now at least we just have to check one group. And for your information: those of us who have the title 'ambassador', 'advisor' etc are just users who have been around for a while, we don't get paid by CC to do anything here.

Now I'll take the opportunity to wish you welcome to the CC forums. We know that you didn't like what you found, we don't know anything else about you. Nor you about us. But you could try out our service mindedness if you have a question related to CC or their software ;)
Ha en riktig god dag!

Nick, I also think you were not rude. You posed 3 good questions which I think Scott answered fully. But I'd also like to add that if you buy the form builder you'll find more than enough help here if you need it. There are some pretty good coders that can help you with most anything. I'd also like to say that CaoffeeCup has a YouTube Channel that has a lot of useful videos made by some of our users and some of the staff. What a wise women Inger  I don't think you were rude either Nick, a bit in your face perhaps but the written word can be so misunderstood that we all have to allow for that I feel anyway. There's always things on forums that aren't to our taste, there's things about CC I don't like and have told them in a polite fashion, there's one thing that irritates the life out of me, but I wouldn't make it public, however you have to take the positives out of many things and CC has plenty of pluses and there's always help here if you need it. I'm sure if you buy the form builder you will find many folk willing helpers, because it's nice to help people out.
I also think that CC genuinely think they have good products, which goes an awful long way in being passionate about something you do. So if you don't run off and stay I'm sure acceptance will come.
All the best.
