Difference Between the Preview Tab...

Hi All,

What's the difference between the "Preview Tab" and the "Test In Browser" icon? I'm using the Coffeecup Free HTML editor. I am working on a test project trying to use HTML5. Most things are working in the "Preview Tab". Nothing is working correctly with the "Test In Browser" icon. What's up with that?

Many of the cool input types for HTML5 are not working in the "Preview Tab". Maybe because the Opera browser 9.5+ which has the strongest support for the HTML5 Forms is not on my machine. I'm willing to download it, but how do I tell the "Preview Tab" to use that browser? I see how to set the "Additional Browsers", but when I look at the web pages with them, they don't look anything like they do with the "Preview Tab". What's the deal? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Calvin

Various browsers have various platforms/engines that they run their code on. The engine that comes with the HTML editor is an Internet Explorer based engine. Firefox has its own, etc. This is why the structure of a website might look different in different browsers. It is not supposed to be that way, but unfortunately most of those who create web browsers are not web developers, they are programmers, which means we don't always see eye to eye on what standards to use.

Specifically, it uses the Trident layout engine that IE uses.

Thanks Fellas,

I guess I need to get me a web server and use the Opera browser to see all the cool stuff with HTML5.
I'm also not seeing the effects of the Transform feature of CSS3. Oh well, I'll figure something out.
