Dark theme for the editor? - Post ID...
Hi! I'm a software developer and I really want to get this editor. I downloaded the free trial, but I can't seem to find a way to change the editor to a dark theme. I'm used to working in Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code, so I'm hoping I can make CoffeeCup just as dark. Is this possible?
If the free edition is the same as the one paid for, the following is the route to follow -
Tools > Highlighter Colors, Options, Auto Correct, Code Templates... then
on the Highlighting tab, near the bottom left, click on Highlighting Color Schemes and Load Color Scheme to choose the one wanted, and then click on OK.

Oh thank you for this, I also can't find the option on mine but not really a fan of dark modes when working so I just let it be, but I do want the dark theme if my eyes are tired on editing, so this will helps.
Thank you for the info Frank,
I am stuck on version 16.2 because the upgrades since require an internet connection to run and my LAN is air gaped for security. My version has no "Highlighter Colors" off the tools menu. It does have a "Preferences" option and then a "Modify Highlighter Colors" where I can try and reassign screen colors one at a time but I have not had good success with setting a dark screen mode. Any suggestions...

The version you have, 16.2, was launched in 2018 and doesn't have the option of a dark mode. That was added in version 18, sometime in 2022.

There is an online startup check for Site Designer, but I haven't found evidence of a similar check with The HTML Editor. I am therefore wondering whether it is in fact the case.

Hey Frank,
I ordered and paid for a newer version but couldn't get it to run. It speared and I was told it requires an internet connection on start up and there was no way around it. If there is a way to get the newer version to run without internet or I was told that in error, please let me know. Mine did try to log in for verification of some kind. Please help as this is an important issue for me!
Thanks,
Joe

It is correct that the HTML Editor needs an internet connection to start up. The verification was added some years ago to prevent misuse; there were people who were running the app without paying. You can see the verification check at the bottom of the dialogue box, Tools -> Preferences.
I think, if you connect your PC to the internet just to boot the HTML Editor, you may probably be able to run it after disconnecting from the web. I haven't actually tried this, but it is the startup that is the important thing for the verification.

Addendum: I contacted the CC boss. He said that as of now, there is no way to prevent the verification process from kicking in. But there might be some time in the future. The CC staff is considering it.

For the old version, I wonder whether a program like https://darkmodeanyapp.com/ would help for dark mode.
