I was wondering which graphics editor people use on here. Have CC got any software that would fit most needs? It's an area I've always had trouble with.

I use a combination of Ulead Photoimpact Pro 11 and Serif Draw Plus X2. These are very capable, reasonably-priced alternatives to Photo Shop and other expensive software packages.

Serif offers free, simplified versions of many of their programs, and offers steep discounts on older versions that have been superseded by the latest & greatest. These can supply very good value for the $.

There's also Photoshop Elements, which is quite powerful for the price, and of course Paint Shop Pro.

For freeware The Gimp is very powerful, though I'd not call it user-friendly, and a new package is out called Artweaver that is amazingly powerful for a free offering.

I use a combo of Paint Shop Pro Ultimate 12, Photoshop Elements 2 & 7, Ez Thumbnails, & Xara3D whichever one does the job best gets the use for that image lol. I use Photoshop Elements 2 a lot because the layer styles work better than they do in 7 and I have extras that don't work in 7. Paint Shop Pro is pretty powerful too, I would say it rivals pretty well with Photoshop and basically the same type of program.

I like http://www.gimp.org/ GIMP (general image manipulation program). It might not be the easiest, but most folks do the same operations many times.. so you learn it once and your off to the races.
There are lots of plugins to be had..
If you do quick google, there is a tutorial that will help.
This header and many parts of this site are just a few examples of what I made with GIMP and CoffeeCup Flash Firestarter

:D GIMP!

I just have to remember I have it, the 'few' times that I actually NEED to use it.

But I've used it for everything from basic line drawing to photo manipulation. Like Dave says, it's a pertypowerful piece o' software.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
