Hi, Just wondered if anyone has experience with Super Yellow Pages. They have contacted one of my customers and have told him they would put his website be on steroids. He did not sign up with them but has asked me my opinion. they want to charge him $100./month to advertise the website with postcards, emails, and of course the usual contacts with google, etc. I told him I thought we could do it cheaper, but am wondering if they are legit or a scam. Any thoughts would be very helpful. Thanks

It is a basic site... Not much there but contact information. This is about all they provide when making a site.

Thank you SirAGE, Am glad to know that. Think we are already doing as much as they can do except for the postcards and emails. And I'm not too keen on those. Sometimes I think too much contact is annoying to people. Maybe if the customer responds to the normal advertising and wishes to continue a conversation its ok. then there's facebook and forums. Thanks again.

To gain popularity means better ratings, That can only be achieved by knowing your competition. Study their advertising campaign. Find out what the demographic they are targeting really wants. There is no magic bullet. It is a matter of making their site more appealing than another. Offers, Display, Service. Put yourself in a clients shoes and cast a critical eye over what is displayed. Do it right and they win.

I have a reasonable site and I get all sorts of offers even from Google to work wonders for me. I got to the top by research and continuing effort. A quick email drop may spark a bit of interest but that soon wanes.

Could be an opportunity for you to improve their ratings the proven way. <Hard Work>

Thank you Prism, I was hoping someone would say that. As an untaught web designer I fumble along hoping I will learn as much as I can from reading and doing. It is so fulfilling and actually fun. So when I am approached by firms offering the world I hesitate and wonder. The help from this forum has meant everything to my sanity and has increased my learning. Now if I can convey the information to the customer, who wants to destroy my calm by wanting to purchase everything anybody wants to throw at him, I'll be fine. Thanks again for your thoughts.

Treat your website like a high street shop window, and i can say from experience having owned a shop or two.

That pain of glass gets grubby just sitting there doing its job, take out the stock, clean the glass, dust of the products, and shift them around every once in a while, it works wonders.

Re inventing my whole web presence new name new website same products did wonders for me possibly the same customers who viewed old site before, remembered the name didn't bother looking through the window any more. New name, new google result and yes my products are the same, but the photo's are all new, and better.

Thank you Viv, What wonderful ideas. Yes, what good thoughts you have. Yes, I shall have to think of ways to freshen up the window and the store. I change the events page of course, but you are right. More has to be refreshed. Thank you so much.
