So, I have already done quite a lot of research regarding some software I am looking for, but there is so much out there, I would rather get some suggestions from you all regarding a recommendation. I am looking for a membership/database software. I don't program with PHP (don't be a hater), so I am looking for some software that will give me some database functionality, like a membership/database program without having to do know a lot about databases and php.

Any thoughts will be helpful.

What are you wanting to do with the membership database? What is the big picture?

I am wanting the ability to enable the automatic storage of information. So, one example might be to have a sign in screen for a member protected area (say a store with lower prices - for members only) and if they want to become members they can create passwords and usernames on the spot. Basically, I am wanting the dynamics of php and database management without having to learn it right now (don't have time).

Hope that clarified.

just looking around here and ran across this...
Using a CMS, this is normal(automatic) behavior..

Using CoffeeCup stuff..
I am thinking to use a form, they fill it out, submit it..(that goes to you)
The thank you page says "your account will be approved within 24 hours"
You enter the info with the website access and send them an approval email.
The lower priced store will open on login.
-- I don't know or haven't messed with it, but the form could save the submit to a text file on the server that is used by htaccess for entry..

I am currently doing what you are suggesting. I just don't want the lag time. However, I had not thought about that last part you mentioned. I am not sure it would work, but it might be worth a try.

Just curious here.... why wouldn't CC Website Access Manager work for this?

WAM password protects folders, but does not allow for dynamic integration, like php and mysql do. With WAM a customer would need to wait until someone emailed them passcodes for a website, whereas php and mysql can do everything on the spot. Create a username, password and allow access. The difference is things happening automatically versus statically.
