Hello all - I'm coming into this enterprise rather late in life, but I'm very interested in developing a website. I've actually started one using the HTML Editor, but it reeaalllly looks amateurish. That's no big deal since it is mainly for my family to have our own domain for emails, but I want to be able to add some "web design" to my resume . . . and besides, I think it will be fun to do.
I need some suggestions on the best software to build (or re-build) the site and make it look semi-professional; maybe add some animation, video, pictures, music, etc. I think I'd like to make it accessible from mobile devices, too.

Hi, you can get a long way just by using the HTML Editor. It has a built-in menu maker that you can use to make a smashing looking navigation for your site. It also has the ability to build css files.

Since you want to have your site accessible for mobile devices, I'd recommend that you stay away from flash content. Especially the Iphone and Ipad are not able to load flash content, due to some conflict between Adobe and Apple. A lot of the Coffeecup applications are based on flash, but they are being reworked to avoid flash in the future.

You may need to make two versions of your site, one for a normal sized monitor and another foir mobile phones etc. You can google for a script that can identify whether a visitor to your site uses a pc or a mobile device, and then it will serve up the correct version of your website.

We are here to help, so if you get stuck, just holler, then someone will turn up to answer your questions.
Ha en riktig god dag!

Steve - Why don't you try working with one of the templates in the HTML Editor? That will give you a professionally designed lay-out to build on and being able to see what bits of code produce what on the page is a good way to learn :)

When looking back on this thread I see that CC Firestarter was among the recommended programmes. Well, that was before Adobe launched its latest version of Flash player. It caused an early death to Firestarter. RIP.
