That I have no idea about. Have you tried asking Coffeecup support?

If you have but haven't received a reply yet, you can check here where you can find copies of any replies even if they didn't make it to you.

To add something to the other post, some of you fields on you form like zipcode(and a few others), are requiring a valid email address. If you go into form builder and uncheck "email address" or "email verification field" that may solve that part of your problem. I can submit the form, but again, get the 500 server error. If you or your son can use a ftp program and check to make sure all the files are uploaded. I find this to be a major booboo for me. :0

PS: Something you may want to try is to make a blank page with nothing but the form on it and test it to see if your still having the trouble. That may better help you to determine if its a server problem/page script conflict.

Thanks for your input Rod.

Several times now I've opened the CoffeeCup Form Builder, clicked the "Company Name" box then unchecked "E-mail Address Field" on the right.

Whenever I reopen the Form Builder however, "E-mail Address Field" remains checked and any minor changes I previously made remain unchanged. The pop-up then informs me that whatever I entered in the "Company Name" box "is an invalid address, please correct it." The changes I make are not being saved. What am I doing wrong? Please suggest something even if it seems small or "obvious". What's obvious to you may not be to me.

I notice also that the "Left" and "Top" measurements usually visible in the bottom left of the Form Builder sometimes disappear. Any idea how to restore these?

I'm using the trial version of the software but would like to purchase the full version when I get these problems ironed out.

All suggestions welcomed.

I have had this happen before. I thought I was doing everything right, only to see the same thing happen.

Double check and make sure that you are opening from and saving to the exact same folder. Believe it or not, it does happen.

master-blaster, I honestly think something is up with the PHP on the account. This should load in IE or Firefox directly:
http://www.pinpointmarketer.com/default_form.php
but I get a 500 Internal Server Error instead. Make sure the php file is indeed uploaded to that location. If it is, I'd check with hostgator to see if PHP is up and running. :(

Thanks for all the replies. I've taken all your suggestions on board but continually get the 500 Internal Server Error mentioned by several people above. I eventually removed the form altogether and installed another one from scratch (See http://www.pinpointmarketer.com/Contact-Us.html) but when I click the "Submit" button,

Internet Explorer wrote:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@pinpointmarketer.pinpointprinter.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Additionally, if I attempt uploading a file, after pressing the "Submit" button the upload box reads "Uploading..." and the indicator on the upload box continually moves to and fro across the box. There seems no way of turning this off except by closing the site.

I've been at this for weeks - so frustrating!

Does anyone know a coder or designer who can install my forms?

I really really don't think it's your fault. If you want to test, I can create a place for you to FTP your files and see if it loads on my site as it is. Then, at least, it would narrow it down to the host server. Actually, if you want to test, put any PHP file on your server and see if it will load. Example:
Open Notepad, and copy/paste the following 3 lines:
<?
phpinfo();
?>
Save as phpinfo.php, upload to site and try to open in browser. If you get the same Server error, PHP's not working on the site. :| If that works, I'll stop pointing fingers at the server. ;)

My thanks to Lowell Ziegler. I'm not too tech savvy so it took me a while to realise what you meant about opening from and saving to the same folder. I found I'd saved the form under different names and in different places: "File" --> "Save As Template..." and "File" --> "Save..." saved to my desktop.

Thanks to Adam's advice, I contacted my host:

There was a permissions problem on the directory where this script was located, which I have now corrected and the error no longer appears.

As a result, I can now receive visitors' completed forms.

Two new issues to sort out:

1. When I use the "Upload File" button to browse files, it selects the name of the file rather than the file itself i.e. when the form is mailed to me, I receive the name of the selected file but the file itself is not attached.

Can anyone explain how I can fix my "Upload File" button?

2. The form sends out a really annoying and unfriendly email entitled "Your email requires verification verify#r10dXQFwCqxJkGvi4DuUEQyPavmVWxRS" to my visitors:

1) The upload/attachment issue is a more complicated step using the forms (few extra steps involved).
Before attaching to an email, the file has to be saved to the server first, so in the File Uploads tab of the Form Settings, check the checkbox "Save to Your Server" as well as "Attach it to the E-mail."
Make sure you have a folder called "files" on your server and chmod (change permissions) it to 777. If you need help with that one, mention which FTP app you use to help narrow down how that app does it.

2) The email requiring verification isn't really from the form. It's from an anti-spam service that most likely is set to verify any email address that's not in your whitelist (safe list). I'm not thinking clearly enough at the moment to tell which end has the anti-spam. Perhaps if you're having submissions sent to Hotmail, then your Hotmail account has that anti-spam option enabled ("Exclusive" option in Hotmail's junk mail settings").

Thank you so much Adam R. I got "Upload File" to work by following the instructions:

1. Edit --> Form Settings --> File Uploads --> Attach it to the E-mail

2. Found the folder called "Files" in my server and right-clicked it where, fortunately permissions were already set.

Hope this will help others who are having this problem e.g:

http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/our-new … e-problem/

Now if I can:

a. Alter the initial message sent to my visitor's inbox

and

b. Put a "Home Page" link or a "Back" link (or both) on the "Thank You" page which appears after the visitor has submitted the form.

I'd appreciate some advice on these two issues.

Thanks.
