however, these will not do virtual hosts, for that you would need access to Apache's httpd.config file

Hiya dave,

Yeah I have access to all the cPanel stuff and then some, but the problem with the cPanel 301 redirects (unless I'm misunderstanding it of course) is that it looks like it only has a setup for going from the .. main_domain/subfolder .. to a different address rather than a subdomain setup like .. subdomain.main_domain .. to a new domain name.

Now if that main_domain/subfolder is the same as meaning a subdomain (since that is actually the file structure in reality) then I would be all set, but the way it looks it doesn't seem to be a subdomain setup, more that it's just a pathway setup.

I hope that makes sense, seems to me it should allow me to input the subdomain as it would be written in the browser rather than the file structure itself. Not sure how to word what I'm trying to say so hopefully you get the idea lol.

first you need to create a subdomain such as
siteone.lbpages.com
sitetwo.lbpages.com
sitetwothousand.lbpages.com

then redirect each one to it's own folder..

Then create an ftp account for each account holder to their directory so they can work on it without messing up other folders or sites.

What do you mean by "redirect each one to it's own folder"? I have 2 different subdomains already setup that 1 has been in use for quite a while and the other is my testing grounds for subdomain stuff. I'm not sure what I'm redirecting when you say that, sorry lol.

I haven't messed too much with creating ftp accounts, I'll do that this afternoon too. I've created accounts before, but I don't remember how it is setup for settings, such as setting up specific pathways of access etc. Shouldn't be too difficult on that.

Hi Jo Ann, You have that screen shot above,, that is the redirect screen.
In the box that has lbpages.com.. change it to your subdomain siteone.lbpages.com

in the box below it (redirects to) put
/siteone-folder-name

if no joy, put
lbpages.com/siteone-folder-name

and choose (redirect with or without www)
bingo, siteone is born.

The FTP account is no big deal. One for each user(not your own user/psd)
FTP user name, FTP password and the folder /siteone-folder-name
this keeps the ftp access to their folder and their /siteone-folder-name/subfolders, but they can't get to the root(your stuff and other site folders)

Thanks Dave for your clear explanation. This is what I meant about the domain redirect through cPanel, but had no way of clarifying my thought on it.

I remember when I didn't know anything, lol. html? what the heck is that

I've only used cpanel(vps optimized) with one managed vps host for 2 of my Drupal sites and have only used the phpmyadmin -Drupal is all database, php and css. I played with it a little, I suppose it's ok. It's pretty and has eye candy.
My reseller account has a home made control panel and I like it better. It's not fancy, but it has lots of functions, it's easy and it's fast.

Thanks Dave, I went back and looked at the redirect page again and got one of those *bonks yourself in the head* moments because I never realized the subdomain names were listed in the drop down menu lol. Sometimes I can't see the things right in front of my face. Looks like it will be really easy to setup now, thanks for helping me get the clouds outta my eyes lol :P

@dave, I use vps optimized too. Who is your provider?
