HELP PLEASE - I have my site using RSD 1.5 and have had no problems uploading any updates that I have been doing. Today I updated our .htaccess file for the site in RSD and WOW server 500 error!!! Hosting company says I have a problem with the index page ???? I had no problems until the updated .htaccess upload. Hopefully this is ok to add on this thread??
PLEASE can someone help/ I cannot see how RSD would be causing this??

I forgot to mention I use IPSwitch WS_FTP Professional for uploading and never had this kind of problem. My hosting company wants to do something with the root directory which was really something I did want anyone to touch (just yet)

Hi Ray,
Delete your .htaccess file and see if it works.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Thanks Eric for the reply I am losing more hair over this and have not much left anyway
That is what I want to do BUT it is hidden and unable to find in my FTP BUT ALL of the RSD pages are there.
Any thoughts on how I can find the .htaccess file????

OK Eric making progress, did a search and found how to put on "show hidden files"and YES they showed up and I was able to delete the .htaccess file. Without the file site is back BUT when add it goes back to 500 server error, so TOOK off for now. Must be something not right with the file, loss to much hair today :| so hopefully I can figure what went wrong and make a new file. One thing I know my hosting co. was wrong as there is nothing wrong with the CC RSD program!! Like I told them.

Did you make a copy of your .htaccess file before you changed it? What ever you did to it at the last edit is probably the cause.

If you added something to to .htaccess file try changing it's position on the page.

Eric once again Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question, I appreciate it very much. Good news for me is that it is fixed, the new updated file actually had an extra space between Redirect 301 / new***** should have been Redirect 301 /new****
I never thought that would cause the whole site to be error 500. I also had to find out how to show the hidden files so I could delete the old .htaccess file, which I know how to do now.
Once again Thank you! I appreciate all the help you and everyone else has given me.
Ray
This probably should have been on the Web design forum, will someone move it?
