You could try optimizing that large hero image
The original size is 1.85MB

I have optimised it using SQUOOSH to webp format, and without loss of quality reduced the file size by a whopping 95%

Also the Logo, its a massive size in pixels, (not so bad file size, but it can be optimized also not only reduced in size but to the WEBP format another file size saving of 45%

Every little bit helps with page loading speeds.

Well now here is a funny thing
My forms are taking a little bit more time to load than before, I have been a bit pre-occupied recently, with our new baby, but today I took some time out, and checked a couple of my sites out.

The forms aren't a big delay, probably 10 seconds (which can seem a long time) but enough to probably upset potential clients wishing to contact us

Truly appreciate all the work and suggestions. I saw all your testing last night and felt comfortable while anticipating such brilliant responses.

Unfortunately the loading sizes have little to nothing to do with the amount of time the form takes to send. I can fix this quickly as the css and js all sit on the same html file. Once I separate them properly, the page will load extremely quickly.

That said, I will take all of your points under consideration with the size of the images. The earlier code references you mentioned were blocked out and don't affect the form sending either. I will make the effort to remove the code as I'm not using the counter - due to its errors and all.

Truly appreciate all of this. I will test out these file sizes and page load speeds on another site and see if that is the issue with the form sending.

Congrats on the new baby!

Just musing ...

1. If others are not experiencing this WFB problem with their websites, it might be that the installation of WFB is not in the default location. I think that programmers and beta testers would normally use a default installation, and not doing so might lead to results not experienced by others.

2. If item 1 above is not applicable, it might be useful to set up a website that consists almost solely of a WFB form and includes or references no scripts other than those created by WFB. If that doesn't result in the same delay, I would suspect that there is some feature in the other websites (not necessarily size) that is interfering with the workings of WFB.

3. If after testing per item 2 above there is still the same delay, my suspicion would fall on some update or problem in the operating system. If it's Windows, I would run Windows System File Checker and, if necessary, Windows Deployment Image Servicing and Management.

4. If all else fails, I would consider making a report in 'My Support Room' with full details of the OS and build number.

I appreciate your musing Frank!

1. I can confirm the files are in the default location. I'm also having this issue with all the forms I've created.

2. I've created a site exactly as you've directed. Plain, no scripts - just a name and the form. The site is at: https://swabyandassociates.com/cc-form-test.html
The result was more tolerable but still extremely slow to send and were as follows in different (desktop) browsers:
Chrome: 16.71 seconds
Firefox: 16.43 seconds
Edge: 16.75 seconds

Please feel free to test yourself.

Since it's not an issue to do with size - the new site page is 2kb and has only 55 lines of code on it - I'm now truly at a loss.

I will attempt your #3 set of instructions and see what comes of it. Truly appreciate your musing.

From clicking on the Submit button, a thankyou web page came up in about 14 seconds, and the thankyou email arrived after a further 26 seconds.

Is it possible that the telephone number checking is connected with the delay? Such checking isn't built into WFB as far as I'm aware. I wonder whether removal of that checking would help.

Great discovery Frank. As I consider the common variable amongst all the forms on all the sites, the phone number is attached to each form.

Are you saying to remove the phone number in total? I'm not aware of a 'phone number check'. It's all embedded within WFB's technology.

I tried submitting the test form with my valid Norwegian phone number. It wasn't accepted. The testing of phone numbers has to do with phone numbers having to match a certain format, number of digits, dashes or other symbols used to separate chunks of the number. If the numbers don't match, the form doesn't get sent.
In my country, we have 8-digit phone numbers, written either xxxxxxxx or in case of mobile numbers xxx xx xxx. I tried both, but they didn't work.
Maybe it will work faster if you don't use any special format.
Ha en riktig god dag!
