No matter where I'm at in the web design world, VSD will always be my favorite... It's really just a fun fun fun program...and when you find things to make the job fun, it's solid gold... just felt like saying that. --

I find that I use VSD for something a lot. Making custom facebook pages, layouts, popups, and also websites at times.

It is a fabulous application for quick, good looking simple websites. It does have limitations but as long as you don't anticipate the website ever needing complex server side coding it really is fabulous!

I also prefer using it for quick mock-ups, etc. than anything else I've ever seen.

On the server side coding, you can always rename .html to .php -- :)

I originally was using VSD for quick mock ups but now have built some full blown sites using it too. The ability to easily add flash components and html code blocks means you can do some quite clever stuff if you need to.

The other really nice thing about VSD is that ANYONE can master it. My partner wanted to build a site for her book business but she knows NOTHING about html or where to start with standard web design tools, so I sat her on the computer, loaded up VSD and did the ftp set up for her. I gave her no help at all and she built http://www.manorfarmbooks.co.uk - and didn't even use a template!

Then I started her using shopping cart/shopping cart designer and you can see she got on with those too. This is from someone who used to need help running a word processor!

She has since also picked up the coffee cup search program and I gave her some basic pointers but she figured out pulling it into VSD by herself.

If I was only allowed one web page building piece of software I'd make it VSD now, purely because you can put together a nice looking site so quickly using it.

Hi Andy, without discouraging your partner too much, help her to get some of the overlapping and "bleeding" text put right. See the screenshot attached.
She has used some very attractive elements and on the whole the site is well in context with her product. With just a bit of tweaking she will be all set to go...

hmm either they fixed it or you're seeing things Janys lol, seriously though, it doesn't look like that to me so I'll assume they got it fixed. Do let us know if that's the case or not, I'm viewing in Firefox current version, but I did take a look in IE8 also to make sure it wasn't a browser quirk.

Very nice site your partner created Andy, and I love that VSD is so easy to use, makes me actually think about installing it and learning it lol. I own it but I have never used it, I probably will one of these days :P

Sorry Jo Ann. I have cleared my cache and looked again and I am still seeing the same problem.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
