Experimenting with .webp files confirms the significantly smaller size for the same resolution, and the fallback seems technically simple. I put into an SD HTML Element the formula from https://css-tricks.com/webp-with-fallback/ i.e.

It works fine, but one doesn't get the preview in the SD canvas.

I therefore hope that the suggestion will be implemented.

.webp has been around since 2010 but since Google's acquisition of the original creators, On2 Technologies, it is being further developed with the intention to become Google's favoured website image format. It is suggested that a future release to the Google search algorithm will give additional weight to SEO scores for websites using .webp, not just because of the speed benefits.

Yes, Google has its own convincing way of persuading website owners to use webp. I guess it will all benefit us, als long as the EU keep on fining Google and alikes for the benefit of their taxpayers.

Would love a lock feature on the element page to be able to lock a single element or a parent and it's children so they cannot be changed. I have seen other apps in which there is a checkbox to accomplish this.

I use a laptop and have issues with cursor control and inevitably move, insert, delete an element while just scrolling (which is another issue, can you make that damn scrollbar just a little bit bigger. It is so tough sometimes to be able to grab and drag it! Oh, I digress) . It may be that I am just getting older and can't see anymore.

In theory that should be possible, but practically it would mean a lot of editing done by someone who knows, most likely by some staff member. I really don't think they will have time for that.

Coffeecup, like most software development companies, no doubt have a kind development planning / roadmap. It's really not that much work and a necessity for a networked company.
But what benefit would they have from making details of their planning public? It would only disappoint some customers, raise all kinds of expectations and a continuing need to manage those expectations. Much better to surprise once in a while with a new release and fullfil some selected wishes

I think only for Vanilla mobile up you should remove the picture element and give us just the <img> tag. Its the path to the future. I dont want a beautiful grid layout showing single elements and then along come a image wrapped in 2 containers. Lets get real here...that aint working. Some grid layouts dont even need media queries to even start breaking at min/max setting so the picture element actually gets in the way now. Lose it.

I had the problem that some js was not able to target the img by the ID I had given it, because the programme set the ID on the picture element instead. So I got a workaround for it, which I can post later today, then right now I'll be off to an appoinment. at my GP's.
