Site Designer navigation during...

I am struggling with an issue during website construction. I have a site with a navigation component added to the site. One of the menu items drops down with a number of submenu links. No problem with the navigation. The problem is that the navigation covers the work area for the site.

I tried under the visibility to mark the navigation as hidden. It does indeed hide the navigation, but the space it occupied is still there covering the work area. I have also tried toggling the breakpoints both ways with no luck. How do I hide the navigation while I am working on the site?

Which framework and which menu? I think we need to SEE this. Could you share a page with the menu on?

Sorry, but I don't have any of it uploaded at this point. I am using the foundation framework. The component is drop down navigation simple. The only problem is that is covers my work area and I cannot find a way to hide it temporarily. I suppose I could delete the navigation and add it back when I am further along.

is that a component from somewhere? I dont have that in my components library, although I seem to remember one from a long time ago, and that one was a UL thingy for the nav container

I can't remember the fix,

Try setting it to position absolute and then hide it, when you have done with the works reset it back

HMM not really good (I think it would be better to use the dropdown thats available in the built in components library and adapt/style it,, much more simple

And Inger has a couple of cool ones here https://mock-up.coffeecup.com

OOOPS I found it, from Ingers components thing, I think

If it's the one from Ingers component thingy, then select the UL list container class =menu = vertical etc

go to 'Layout" then "MORE' and set it to "NONE' when finished the area below reset it back to "FLEX"

I suspect the menu in question is the one at https://mock-up.coffeecup.com/f-comps/f-simple-nav.html .

Unless sub-submenus are wanted, it might be worth taking a look at the one at https://mock-up.coffeecup.com/f-comps/f … menu.html. It looks similar, doesn't have the problem mentioned, and I think is much easier to work with because it uses the Select Drop Down element that perhaps wasn't incorporated in SD (or its predecessor) at the time the other menu was built.

I think this component may have come from Inger, but it has been some time ago. I do need the drop down navigation. After continuing to struggle, I devised a work around. I made the navigation a symbol, created a blank page and added the symbol there, to preserve styling for this particular website. I then removed the navigation from the other pages. After the site is finished I will add the symbol back to the other pages.

This is certainly not ideal, but I cannot determine where the problem is (likely the person behind the keyboard!). Maybe when I have more time I can pursue the issue. Thanks for the responses. This forum is a great asset!

Wouldn't you know it. I found the solution while experimenting with other navigation options. One of the other choices gave the solution in the comments: In the program the nav is covering the contents below it. Therefore, in order to edit the contents of any container below the nav, it would be best to make the .nav container temporarily invisible. Set the display to "none" and don't forget to set it back to "inline-block" when done (Display, More, Select).

Worked perfectly. Again, many thanks!
