3Mb is not far off DialUp speeds, in 2022 websites should not have to sacrifice design to compensate for such low speeds. Here is the whole of the UK speeds are 23MB and up, not for the privileged few but for all. I understand it is not your fault you are on such low speeds but I cant justify design sacrifice for such low speeds in 2022, it makes no sense in such a competitive world.

It makes all the sense there is one doesn't have to sacrifice design as such just some optimisations or other things available to us, and page loading speed is one of the essential core web vitals now that Google for one use to help them index a site for ranking, along with " accessibility for all" which includes mobile users who may still be using low band width not necessarily unlimited . Chris is a professional designer and developer who would at least be able to assess how small changes improvements etc can give his clients the best chance there is, that's why we let people know constructively.

Just as an example, (and I am not suggesting you do this I wouldn't dream of it) but your large hero image of that turntable thingy is over 1mg in size, with just a simple optimisation, to change it to WEBP format can result in a massive 94% reduction in file size without losing any quality in appearance, which obviously reduces page loading time.

Chris has a few images that could be slowing down the loading speed for some possible visitors/potential clients for his client's site, a simple check to see if optimising them may improve things without losing quality or changes to the design.

I don't mean to stir the pot, but sites do need to be as optimized as possible for the end user. 23 mb is not the norm for the entire world, and building for what you experience is not a good practice to be in, especially if you're creating an end-user purpose like a sales site, or an informational site of some sort. Even in SD, anytime you try to add a lg img file, it gives you a warning that the file size is too big.

Optimizing is good practice. There are numerous free sites to convert images to webp, and other optimizing options.

I totally agree with Kitty here,

It is best practice to optimize for user experience. Google will actually negatively rank your site if it has long loading times. As mentioned there really is no need to ignor this as there are many many applications out there to help reduce file size.
