I, too have had a hard time with learning this new program.... it uses different language and concepts--- "elements" "grids".
I found what has helped me is watching the youtube videos for the responsive layout maker. It seems to be the link in between Visual Site Designer and RSD?

Just think of it as a table, like in the old days. :P You had the table itself (grid), the tr (row), the td (column) then the text or image or... which is the (element).

@ Adam East

So it all comes around full circle, just with relative positions and dimensions, so to speak -- Hell, now I can figure it out..... Thanks.....

I've created comprehensive websites from scratch in webplus and xara, however I thought I would use the 21 free trial to see if I could create a more responsive website than merely the two variants that I can easily create using these alternative web design applications.

Like others, I have really struggled with RSD to even get started, the complete lack of quality training media has meant I have spent hours searching around the web for a basic "your first website in RSD" videos, I just cannot find much stuff out there. Tried viewing the RLM videos, but the interface differences make a straight comparison somewhat difficult.

Alas, only a few days into the free trial and it's clear the learning curve is going to be too steep and the availability of Coffeecup support videos at this moment in time is sparse to say the least. I will for the time being park this project. Sorry Coffeecup, no sale this time....

I am sorry to hear that :(

Did you try the RSD resource overview linked from the help menu? It points to a whole bunch of articles about responsive design in general, articles about the RSD UI (the design pane) and workflow (how to add content elements). Here's the link just in case: http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/ … -overview/

This overview also links to a practical step-by-step guide that many people tremendously enjoyed. At the end of this you will have created your 1st responsive design and master all the essential related to both responsive design and RSD. Please let us know if that helps!
The future of web layout has arrived and it's called CSS Grid. CoffeeCup helps you to get ready with a free guide, the Grid Builder app plus cool demos & themes.

Rooky,
I also did not know how to use RSD or RLMP_ at all! As a Newbie I also almost gave up BUT thanks to all the support from Coffee Cup ( they are great) and the experts on this forum who answered all my Newbie questions I was able to learn enough that our site slowly has been updated from a static site to the responsive one. Now I am no coder or web designer so my Learning Curve took longer ( still learning) BUT stick with it ask questions I am sure you will get the help you need, I did and could not do it with asking thanks to so many here! Also I downloaded all the you-tube tutorials and printed all the RSD materiel and made my own user manual that I look at first before asking for help again.

Thanks for the support folks, I will keep at, starting to get my head around the functionality differences to my other web-design applications. I have another question about page load weighting performance, but I will open a separate thread for that.

LOL, that may be a bit over the top! But, I do now have somewhat a working understanding. Truth be told tho, just as with VSD before, I will probably not use RSD much at all and will revert to using the HTML Editor as I have done since around 1999/2000 in my usual slow clumsy way.

You will get there. :) Keep up the good work!
