Redundant text classes - Post ID 298426

Due to my past ignorance and unfamiliarity with the software I have 63 text classes called paragraph-text-x where x goes from 2 to 97. Only a few of them were being used within paragraphs, mainly to make a text selection bold. I removed these and replaced them with a named class that does this function. But how do I remove all the unused ones? I want rid of all 63 so my work is more streamlined. If there is a past post on this I apologize. Just point me to it. Thanks.

if those class names are the first and you added the extra class name which was then styled accordingly, you could just simply delete the first class name (test it out on 1 ) the styling should remain if not then add it back in.

My guess is that those class names have been added automatically when you have been in the text editor within SD, typically if you wanted to change part of a paragraph, like font-face, bold/italic, colour or size etc.

If you want to get rid of those classes, you have to go through your document/site and find an instance of such a change, and then open the text editor again, highlight the text in question, and you will see one of those paragraph-text classes coming up highlighted. Delete it, and then, if this is a colour change, give it a class name like 'colour-red' or so. Then wade through your file and find all the instances of red text and do the same. If it was an instance of bold text, make up a fitting class name for it and go through all the instances of that again. Then follow the same route for any other changes you have made.

Not sure about this. Here's what I do. I create a new paragraph. I don't give it a class. I go into the paragraph to edit the text. I highlight a word. I type p into the classes and get a list of the 63 unnecessary classes called paragraph-text-#. I select one. I then click on the x and it goes away from the box. But it does not disappear because the next time I do it that class is still listed. What am I doing wrong? How do I remove it from the list.

Michael, did you read my post before you posted yours? It sounds to me to be exactly what I was referring to.

If you look at the timing you will see I posted 2 minutes before you! But thanks for the info. I will look into it.

The timing here has never worked properly, at least not with hours and minutes. To me, it looks like I posted two minutes before you, hehe!

As far as I know most of the classes that show in the list are not used in my website. I have searched all the html files for "paragraph-text" and found only 6 different types (2, 6, 7, 8, 14, and 32). The other 57 are not used in the website (not in the html files). If they are not used I can't find them in the text. I can create a fake paragraph, change a part of the text to a selected class using a name in the list, and then click on the x to remove it. But that class does not go away because I can do the whole over again and it still pops up.

I have played with this, and it does seem that there is a problem regarding the display drop-down list. My experiments so far suggest that the problem doesn't affect the exported css.main file or the .html files, but seems to be lingering in the .rsd project file.

It seems also, after leaving Text Edit Mode for such a paragraph, that the 'Current selector' item in the Styles panel shows a seemingly non-existent style. Perhaps some further testing is needed on this.

It's good that with the paragraph classes the program can show you where each class is employed. One can then go to the page, find them, and change things to remove unwanted classes. Their recent email was useful for this. But I see no way to find a text class or to list where they are used. Once you are in the text-editing control panel you are forced to be focused on the text you are editing. If that class appears elsewhere how do you find it? Having some sort of summary of classes, with the opportunity to delete ones not used, would be great.
