Hey guys,

Alberto here. I'm usually not very active on the forms, but I would like to share our findings of this post :-)

First of all, I would like to say sorry to all people having any of the issues described here. Thanks for your patience and we will do our best to fix any problem existing.

QtWebEngineProcess should be safe. It is part of one of the app frameworks we use Qt (https://www.qt.io/) since the very early versions. Many other organizations use it for their applications Organizations_using_Qt. One of their components is indeed a chromium browser engine, but not sure about why that article marks it as a "Browser Hijacker". We share the article with the Qt people, just in case.

We feel that maybe one of their updates impacted our application performance for some users. We have not been able to reproduce it, as may only impact some computer configs. We are updating it to their latest upstream release, as they have some fixes and graphical performance improvements.

Also, we will include a quick improvement for the visual aids between the Elements Tree and the Canvas, for showing the hovering elements. Hopefully, this will help with the jumpiness feedback when moving elements for example. We will also consider including it as preferences since all of our workflows are a bit different, people could want to turn it off ;-)

In the very next few days, we will post a new update with these fixes and improvements.

Thank you all for your patience and support.

Hi Alberto
Great to find a company that accept that sometimes not everything goes to plan and for me it speaks volumes about how CC takes our feedback on the forum to help all users . Thanks for taking the time to give us the update.
Regards Adrian

Perhaps someone using Build 3113 would check the Windows 10 Task Manager while SD 4 is running to see whether QtWebEngineProcess.exe appears in the Details tab.

It does but it SD 3.5 also has two of them showing.

that would possibly indicate that you have 2 projects open at the same time,
(there should be nothing wrong with that I hope because I often have multiple projects open at the same time too)

On my win 10 laptop I have three instances of that file QtWebEngineProcess.exe running without any CC app open. I haven't checked what makes them run in the first place, and they have a different amount of memory in use. It must be something in Windows, (or something running in the sys tray), as nothing else is open. When opening SD, a 4th instance of that file opens, another SD causes a 5th instance to open, and it is the same for ver. 3.5 as for 4.0 builds 3113 and 3180. And also opening RED or FD causes further QtWebEngineProcess.exe files to start running. Each of those files are using memory, so I need to watch it in order to still have some RAM to play with. But of course, I never work with unlimited numbers of those apps at the same time.

I only see one running when I open SD. Nothing before.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

This is getting fixed, The lag is gone as is the solid crashing. Without a change log it's hard to say what was done and fixed.

Alberto was a real pleasure to work with. I'm at 3192 and for me, it's working well again.

I haven't yet got build 3192 in my purchases list. Has it been released generally, or to just a special few please?

AFAIK it is only for those who had expressed their desperation over the 3180. But it will be released shortly.
