Importing files into RSD 2.5 - Post...
Hello: Not long after uploading my website my hard drive crashed. Obviously, I lost my RSD project. However, I have the exported files on my flash drive. Is it possible to import those into a new project? Fingers crossed, and thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry to hear about your hard drive.
there are people (services that may be able to recover some files, I know tha here in Surabaya there are people that can do it, but there is a cost
maybe there is someone around wherever you are in the world/
Unfortunately you cannot bring the exported files into your RSD project. You are stuck with having to re-do it
too late now, but I do 3 things with my project files
1/ back up every day (when working on a project ) to a USB flash drive
2/ back up to the microsoft cloud (I know there are others, dropbox for one)
3/ when a project is finished I Zip it up and place the zipped file into the projects resources that way it goes onto our isp server
I also do a daily back up of all my files/folders etc onto an external hard drive
That covers about all scenarios so that I can always at least get something if my hard drives crash
Sorry to be the barer of bad news, Good luck with your re-build

Regarding file recovery from a crashed hard drive, this thread may help.
As Wayan says, one cannot restore the project file from the exported files. Those files may, of course, prove helpful in rebuiling the project file. The following examples will be obvious to many users, but may be helpful to some.
(a) The exported pictures etc. can be added to the Resources section of the new project file;
(b) One can take screen-shots of how the site looked by opening the exported index.html and other .html files in a browser, and one can use those screen-shots to position items on the new project file canvas (using a 'tracing paper' type of program - I use Overlay 2.1, for which a free trial is available at http://www.colinthomas.com/overlay/);
(c) One can see what elements were used on each page by looking at the text of the various .html files in an HTML editor program (e.g. the free Notepad++ or CoffeeCup's The HTML Editor);
(d) Using the same editor program, one can examine the file called 'main.css' to observe the settings that had been made for each element within the original project file.
One properly becomes fanatical about backing up after one has seen the problems people suffer from failing to do so. I do complete imaging of drives/partitions both to an external hard drive (that I connect to the computer just while the imaging occurs) and to an additional internal hard drive. Googling 'disk imaging software' will show programs that will do this.
