I am Missing Something
Or is this a small bug.
I have been working on my site, creating some rows adding elements and backgrounds. I added a border along the lower edge of all the rows. When I opened the file to continue working the borders are visible and can be previewed, but they do not show as being active in the design pane under "border". The settings indicate that there should be no border. I also cannot select the lower border.
I believe this started after upgrading to the latest beta (V2 2098).
The file can be viewed here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r5xqmij47tlh5 … 1.rsd?dl=0

It took me some time to get used to the Design pane Border box. My findings were as follows.
(a) The 4 sides with the circle in the middle normally show nothing highlighted even though border settings may have been made.
(b) When nothing is highlighted but a setting has been made, clicking on the relevant side in the Border panel box will highlight that side and show the setting that was made.
(c) Clicking on the circle in the middle toggles highlighting all the borders, or removing the highlighting from all the borders.
(d) When all the borders are highlighted as in (c) above,
1. the details that are shown will not be correct unless the setting for all the borders happens to be the same, and
2. any changes made will be applied to all the borders.
(e) When no border is highlighted, one can select one or more sides to make settings to the sides one selects.
(f) When one or more sides are highlighted, I find the easiest way to remove the highlighting ready to select another side is to click twice on the circle in the middle.
The procedure is sensible because otherwise it would not be possible to make setting individually for each side. Any changes made apply to all the sides that are highlighed at the time.

So I was missing something, that is good. Thank you Frank for the explanation.
To summarize; when a border style is applied to any but not all of the sides of a row the indicators in the Design Pane Border Box do not highlight that a style is applied unless the specific side or sides are first selected. Makes sense as there is a symbol for each of the sides and only a single set of values.
I wouldn't want to clutter the area with four setting boxes, but I believe there must be something that would be more intuitive. Maybe using a colour on the side indicator that has a style applied when it is not selected.
Another issue is that the target area when selecting a side is small. Part of the reason I thought there might be a software issue is that I tried to select the side with the style and the symbol wasn't responding. I was playing with it today and you have to select the side by picking a point to the inside of the symbol, picking on the side symbol or to the outside edge does not respond.

When you go to the border section if there are any styles applied to any border (other than all ) there is a RED border on the left of the size etc,, that means there are styles applied to some of the borders not all, by selecting the border one by one it will then show what the size colour is for the borde(rs) that have the styling

Hi Wayan,
This is only true if the border(s) with a style applied and another border are selected together. It would help if the same red lines showed when no borders are selected.
When opening a file settings are not retained, so when you look at the border section it appears the no styles are applied to any of the borders. This is confusing. I am aware of this now, so it is no longer a big issue for me, but new users will continue to run into this problem. Some sort of indicator would be nice to have.

Nope look carefully and even if no borders are selected,, the red underline is still there (maybe not very bright ) but it is still there

I am sorry but I do not have the thin red lines. I have checked each of my rows with a single border and none of them show a thin red line in the border area. If I click the border with a style the values appear, if I unselect that border nothing is highlighted.
I have restarted the program, I get the same results. I am suing the latest version
I don't know why we are getting different results.

In the part of the Help file to which I referred it says, "If borders are selected that have different styles applied, a red line is visible at the bottom of the controls for which the styles differ. If these styles are changed, they will be synchronized over all selected controls and the red line will disappear."
I believe that remains true, but I am colour defective, and could wish for something that showed more brightly. I hadn't even noticed it until I read the mention of it in the Help file.
