How to avoid string literals in a...

I am trying to make a complex link that contains " and & characters in a picture link. When I enter the link into the Href field for the picture, the resulting html has %22 substituted for the ", and & becomes &

Is there a way to prevent this and just keep the exact string as I type it?

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks Wayan, I should have mentioned I had tried that and " becomes &quot

I may have to do a work around.

Hi Marty,
Which frame work are you using? Do you have the latest version of SD?
SD allows me to enter https://ericrohloff.com/?one=1&two=2 and it never alters it even after export.
I'm using Foundation frame work and latest version of SD.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

One work-around that doesn't involve editing after export would be as follows.
(a) Put the picture link element in a container.
(b) Right click on the picture link element and select Copy Element HTML.
(c) Select the container and paste what has just been copied into the Element panel Content Code box.

One can then edit what is in the Content Code box to one's exact requirement, and that will be what gets seen in 'Preview on ...' and what gets exported by Site Designer.

Thanks Eric, Frank for the replies.

Eric: I'm using SD 5.0 build 3360 with Foundation 6.6.3

Frank: I am good with (a) and (b) of your suggestion, but when I select the container, I can't find a way to bring up the Element panel Content Code box. I can view the element code by right clicking on the container in the element tree, but I can't figure out how to edit it and save it.

Maybe I need build 3541?

The Element panel is quite different from the Elements Tree, and has a number of useful code boxes: Head Code, Footer Code, Content Code, Before Code, and After Code, the first three of which I certainly would not wish to be without. That Content Code (switching) box allows one to modify any element to suit one's exact needs without any post-export coding when used in the way I mentioned.

The panel is indeed in more recent builds of SD5.

Thanks Frank. My version is too old, so I guess it's time to buy the new version. Been putting it off...

Well, the new version of SD cures the problem of the changing quotes and &'s.

Thanks all!
