Fallback First, yes... IE, not at all...

What's your opinion?

I use Fallback First for the base site of whatever I’m creating/programming. It just makes sense. There may be browsers that happen to not accommodate grid.

For quite some time, I haven't worried about Internet Explorer. The majority of the world isn’t using it. (I saw one site that said as of January, IE/Edge only has 3.2% browser market share.) I have always assumed that Fallback First will accommodate IE to some degree. However, I'm doing a site on the Foundation Framework right now. When I previewed the site today, IE failed to render the navigation dropdown menu and did not even show the flex containers correctly.

While I haven’t really worried about IE in the past couple of years, I don’t see any reason to worry about IE at all now.

What do you think?

Did you know that Web Form Builder can be used for both simple and complicated forms and that it's not limited to the default fonts and buttons? Take a look at a form we developed for WindowTinting.com.

I do my sites in fallback first from desktop up as one would do previous to flex. For smaller mobile devices I just have blank page because I don't believe there are many mobile devices around that use IE
I then change from fallback first to display flex or grid depending on what the layout requires and do the pages accordingly

I suppose the question is really how much is a potential customer worth.

I have a client, who's potential customers are worth potentially 10,000 $ per annum, so he would say to me (and has) Yes Wayan make the effort and do it for IE as well, because I want to potentially have as many customers as I can get, even if it's only 1 from IE, that's 10,000 $ per annum

I have others (including myself) who don't really get or are interested in generating income, who may say, don't worry about IE users, its not worth the effort or extra work involved. Personally I would disagree with that and I would still do it "fallback first" but use flexing to its full extent for the initial layout, then if the layout required grid then I would do that last
depending on the complexity, after all it's not that much more extra effort.

Bootstrap 5 Alpha was released June 16, 2020 and in the supported browsers IE 11 was dropped. Jquery is not a requirement any longer also. The Bootstrap.js will be all javascript.

Thats a whole lot of Bootstrap Designers no longer having to support IE11.

@supports was a keen idea but actually a really awful way to feed css to modern browsers.

Coffeecup is way ahead now with a great CSS Grid tool and the power of framework components and utility classes.

No sure about Foundation....they are now a community project are they not ? (No longer associated with ZURB)

Foundation works fine with IE 11 as long as you know what you are doing so actually one can just do a site using just fallback first and the old edge always was ok with fallback first or display flex.

A little off topic but regarding bootstrap 5 beta or not, I'm betting I know who will be the first to ask about including it in site designer. If I am wrong the beers will be on me all night. But you will have to buy your tickets to Bali :(

I would't wait with bated breath for any alpha version of BS. Let it mature a bit first.

Really? Who is overseeing the Framework to determine what goes in and doesn't?
