Having a problem with external links on my site built with RSD and uploaded to s-drive. None of the links that I have made will work. I get an error from s-drive, as if it is looking within s-drive account for those pages when they are referring to pages outside of my site. Thanks for your help.

One thing to watch for is make sure its the full url. For example google.ca or www.google.ca would not be acceptable you should have https://www.google.ca/. Try that and see if it helps.

Thanks that seems to help. Another question on links.... When a test link is dropped in and the address added under the design tab at the Href, is it necessary to triple click, highlight the text and add the link also? Thanks

You can triple click it or just click the pencil in the design tab.

Before going live, how do I test my external links when viewing in browser through RSD? Thanks.

You can open pages from your own computer or from the internet in your browser. Therefore, if you preview your site in a browser in a browser, you should be able to click the links and they will work -- as long as you have an internet connection.

Hi Matthew,

I would just upload all the site files to a subfolder on your server and view it from there. I like testing all functionality of my website before I point a domain to it.

Thanks guys for the input. Unfortunately, I don't have a server to upload to other than my S-Drive. I didn't clarify enough so forgive me.

Basically, I'm using RSD and put a google map link in the href field of a particular picture link element. I then click on "preview on..." and try to test the picture link in Mozilla. The URL however, simply just adds the href to the present local URL, and doesn't treat it independently by opening the link in its own window. Also, I included the absolute address, e.g. https://www.google.com...

I could just copy and past the link in the URL to test that I have it correct, but I was hoping to test it like I used to do in VSD.

I think I'm doing something wrong here. Is there another setting for the picture link element to treat it as a separate window? Maybe the "target" setting from "self" to "blank"?

Okay, changing the target from "self" to "blank" works for opening in separate window. But the link however, still just adds to the local url. No biggie. I suppose I'll just have to wait and do the subfolder upload to S-Drive when the time comes.

Thanks again Brian, and Steve.
