I'm wondering whether there is some way to achieve what was originally requested, i.e. being able to change the name of a class so that, in one action, all the elements which had the original class name now show the amended class name. My suspicion is that this is not possible at present.

To change a class name, click the X to the left of the class name and immediately type in the new class name. Important: If you click anywhere outside of the Classes box, all styles will be deleted. The old class name (if not used anywhere) will also be deleted from the main.css and the new class name will appear.

I think I am understanding what you're wanting now also. I believe that answer would be no, you cannot update all classes of that name at the same time. That is why I gave you the information in my last post on the procedure to update the rest of your shared class names in making sure to change the one with all the correct settings first. The programs do not update the class names that are shared you have to do that manually yourself.

Might be a good suggestion though with maybe a way for the program to show you all the places a specific class is used (might have this ability already, but as I said I don't use the program), and then have the ability to check a box for each of the ones we want to change to that new name? Not sure if that's something doable, but if that's something you'd like to see I would suggest you add that to the suggestions thread for RSD.

That of course is if I am understanding your question correctly.

I've always took the x as delete. I didn't know you could edit it. Thanks for clarifying that.

I agree that what is suggested maintains under a new class name the attributes of the element one is working on.

If one had several elements sharing the original class name, those other elements still seem to show the same class name as they did before. In other words, the impression I get is that what the procedure achieves is the creation of another class containing the same attributes as the original class.

That is indeed useful, but one still then has to visit all those other elements which have the original class name, delete that original class name from them and put the new class name in them. That visiting of all those other elements is what I believe Lesley Singleton's original post was hoping to avoid.

Yes I want to change the name of a class and have the new name automatically apply to all instances of that class. Looks like I will have to work through every instance manually to change it... this certainly would be a useful feature.

I couldn't agree with you more. I don't know how many times I had to hunt and peck the classes when i have had to rename them. If I heard correctly they might be fixing this in a future update when they introduce libraries to RSD.
