Why can't the Shopping Cart Creator...
We've been adding lots of items to our shop recently, and when I went to select preferences for the payment opotions it locks up and stops responding. I've opened a Support Topic, but they concluded that they don't know why I'm having this problem and I'm on my own. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know of a better shopping cart program that isn't so limited in payment options and actually works?
I'm not one to immediately rush to CC's defense whenever someone has the slightest criticism, but I do believe in being fair and would bet that this has something to do with your system and installation, rather than being something "wrong" with SCC.
Have you tried uninstalling the program, cleaning the registry and then reinstalling it? That would be my first step, making sure to keep the scc file for the existing shop.
There are other shopping cart systems that have additional payment options, but this isn't the forum to be asking for recommendations for competing poducts.

Chuck is right. This application is working correctly on many, many computers without the symptoms you describe. Nobody can exactly duplicate the process that are running on your PC, so it may never re-created.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

There are a multitude of cart programs out there. Most are either very expensive and tied into using the vendor's server, or so complex in their operation you need a degree in computer science to get them set up and maintain. The fact that there are hundreds of CC shops that perform month in, month out without problems, validates the premise that CC is generally very reliable.
Most problems with any cart software arise if the host changes configurations on the server, or if a file does not get uploaded correctly when updating the shop. All you can do to resolve any problems that occur is to keep back ups of your site and reinstall your site from a back up that you know is working ok.
As far as working, I agree use ccleaner.com to clean up your registry and such.
My computer use to lock up often. I could go get a cup of hot coco or take a break at times and come back and it might be done. Well after I installed ccleaner.com and cleaned up my computer. It moves quickly and fast. I can't believe it, it is like having a new computer. I have not had any program lock ups at all. It is great.
Something you might want to try.
As far as payment options, what are you wanting? So people know what to possibly suggest.

I find it hard to believe that CC would just say you were on your own also. I don't think I've ever heard them say that or have heard anyone else ever say that. CC stands behind their programs very well. I also agree with everyone else that this program works just fine for many users, and would assume it's something on your system that is doing this. Could be anything from firewalls, scanning software, to another software program conflicting with it. Best to do what Kim suggests and give ccleaner a try and reinstall it.
Best way for cleaning up is to:
1. Uninstall the program (be sure to backup your files for your shop first. This would be the directory that has the name of your shop in it that the program created, and the .scc file that holds your shops settings.
2. Use ccleaner and let it clean up anything it finds. It's a very safe program to use.
3. Reboot your system to remove any cached residuals that may be stuck in memory.
4. Reinstall SCC and see if that works. You may need to resetup a few settings once you open your shop, but it should work if cleanup is the issue.
If this doesn't work, I would suggest you get with CC and continue your support ticket. I am very sure they are not planning to just leave you in the lurch with this issue, and I would bet you are just misinterpreting their response to you. Many times they are willing to connect to your pc to help you solve the problem, but you do need to discuss it with them and give them a chance to help you rather than just blowing it all off because you are impatient for answers
Good luck on it and I hope you get it all resolved.

Mine is having the same problem.I test my site by trying to process the google checkout and It will not even load.It looks like it was not even uploaded what is the deal? It seems SCC needs an emergency update.
Ron and Aditya, you both should get a support ticket in. I know you did already Aditya (I would try the cleaning registry program and then try again and then contact support again) If this is a real issue then it needs to get fixed. But support needs to have one on one with you to really understand the problem, so they know what to fix.
I had tons of problems with software and such, until I ran the ccleaner.com software on my registry and my other computer and applications things. I have not had one problem, and everything runs smoother than when I first bought my computer. All the problems I had was internal in my operating system.
But there could be a bug that needs to be fixed and the only way it will get really noticed is if people who have the problems get with support to figure it out. Support help people all day long and some times it is just a computer setting or conflict. And some times it is a bug and they fix it and put out an updated version.
Best wishes and let us know if you guys get and run the ccleaner.com software - I never thought those things worked and I was ready to just trash my computer and buy a new one. Now I am so happy with it!
convinced it is a conspiracy with Operating Systems Manufactures and the Computer Manufactures, so that we spend more money on computers that we don't need. haa haa haa Just look at the car industry... haa haa haa - Sorry it is early and my sense of humor is a bit off.
Have a great day,
Kim

Thanks Kim for mentioning ccleaner.com. Although my computer was running so slow, no problem with SSC. I installed and selected run ccleaner.com and my computer seems to be running faster.
Thanks again
Thanks again

Pardon me for being anal, but the software is CCleaner, from Piriform, and it's available from here: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner You can get there by typing 'ccleaner.com', but Piriform makes some great freeware products, including CCleaner, and deserves being mentioned properly by name.
I'd write the same thing in another forum if someone recommended Shopping Cart Creator without attributing it to CoffeeCup.
Yeah, I know -- the duct tape is wrapped a bit tight...

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
