I had one person order @ £0.00p and pay the £2.00 postage at the checkout, I sent them a nice printout of the picture with the estimate on it
The bank details issue is altogether different, I have talked to my business bank Santander about this before putting the details on my website and they say its perfectly safe.
For those tooooo young to remember cheques, buying by post and in early days of the internet you would order an item to be posted to you, so they have your full address and postcode, then you put a cheque in the envelope with your sort code on, you bank account number , and to make matters even worse you autographed it for them.
Further more on the back they would ask you to place your guarantee card details, and give it to the post office, who at Christmas time especially employed a load of unemployed students desperate for cash to deliver the envelope to a company address where they were blatantly selling shoes and handbags to the public at large.
Today in UK cant speak for anywhere else in the world, you
CAN NOT make an online transaction from your own bank, unless you have the debit card in your hand, put it into a digital machine and enter your pin number, which gives you a random number to enter into your log in before you can access your account, then you need the three numbers on the reverse of the card before you can procceed.
So the only person who is
LIKELY to fraudulently use my bank account is my
wife, and if she does it will be my loss
NOT THE SHOP SHE ORDERED FROM.
Yes hackers will do there best to use my details, and yes they could try to use my details
More to the point they could try to open a new account using my details, BUT its a business account with a business name and thats hard to open in the UK without your passport, driving licence, a few household bills with your address on, and a credit search.
If you are running your SCCP shop using a private account, (A) you should not be, (B) you are likely to get hacked
I have a shop online, and i want to sell products the majority of which are £300.00 and over and i want customers who have the money in their bank accounts to be able to pay me hassle free.
This thread was started because Paypal, the biggest online gateway in
UK CAN NOT VERIFY clients in the Netherlands, and numerous other countries in the world, so i have to turn away every order which i get , this month alone that comes to £1,200.00 from Holland alone, and that hurts in todays climate.
I am open to any suggestions, hence i started this thread, and yes i take on board everyone's concerns, but HELP someone out there must have the answers because Paypal don't
Maybe CC can come up with some software that can confirm and verify clients addresses and add it to SCCP at checkout
