Call me what you want Steve, my wife does  To the other Steve, I'm not really sure if it would be help seeing the before and after they are totally different beasts. You got to try the RLM yourself I think the only way to do something like this is get your hands dirty of course and now we are learning how to use it ourselves we can help you with that, but seeing the before and after of anyone's design I would think, I maybe wrong, but if I looked at my own design the before when I did it purely in my code to RLM it's totally different.

I wanted to see how you set up the header and footer elements inside the dark gray areas.

I have been playing with RLM for a few days, and my hands are really dirty :D"

I'm quite adept at designing static websites using several different "visual" editors, but I'm not a serious coder (know basic html), and don't know much about css, so the different tag choices in the properties have me going in circles.

Yeah you got to wash your hands too  but of course metaphor :D OK I don't think you have to be a total coder to be able to use the RLM effectively it does help having some knowledge of CSS but the ideas of spans of 12 etc and wireframes are pretty new to me, so when you've coded everything previously it's a learner for all of us just in different ways. If you can put some screen shots of things that your having difficulty with maybe with your header and footer it might help.

Aww yes this is very easy Steve.

Ok so you create a new row then go to the properties of that row and set the max-width to none. That should span that row right across your screen. Then goto the background color and pick what color you want it.

Once your done that add a subgrid to that same row. Now all your content will be at the max-width default. My max-width defaut was 1200px.

Thanks - I didn't understand the subgrid feature. I tried it, and I'm getting closer to what I want.

I'll get back to it tomorrow and maybe put it online for comments.
