Clearing out old css from project

This is probably the wrong place to ask this but here goes,

I have an old project with needs a little bit of re-design to some pages. Thats not the problem, the problem is that once I have removed some pages, added other pages, and changes the rest, re-naming classes and Id as required, when I export it the old classes and Id's are still there in the css folder, which mow makes it
1/ massive in size and
2/ difficult to go through to do some coding changes to add felxbox thingies etc etc

Is there a way to clear out the css, and start again with a clean sheet so to speak or best to start again from scratch with a new project

Googling 'unused css remover' suggests that there are quite a lot of tools available for doing this.
