Naw, probably right. If they want the full site they can get on a PC. Still think the mobile site should be short and to the point.

Thanks for the suggestions and compliments guys and I got to say I think your right. I hate thumbing through a website too.

@ Gunsmoke The challenge is figuring out what content to drop. As a developer I have always been in the habit of making sure the landing page has a summery of what your business is about. I offer a lot of services.

@ Eric Yes you are 100% right I have long hated the idea of having two sites to maintain! Thats why I love the idea of a responsive website. Now the challenge is going to be figuring out how much to charge to build one... because this home page has been a labor of love i go to tell you! I have spent more time tinkering with this webpage then I have building 2 complete websites in VSD!

@ Hans Note taken. I will get that fixed up. I have been concentrating on the RLM rework that I haven't even thought a whole lot about the menu and buttons for that matter.

@ G'kar I hate going on facebook, msn, or any other very large websites on my mobile to... never ending scrolling and takes forever to load a million video streams.

However he's the first to do a site that I know of in RLM so he's the pioneer

I am hardly a pioneer lol... but thanks for the complement. As far as Responsive Web Design I think we are all a little behind the 8 ball on that one. I am just glad to be involved in this community and have software to help me shave down on development time. Anyone can hand code a website but it takes time, which in turn costs money. I will always strive to make websites affordable to everyone.
Taking over the world one website at a time!

Just keep it simple. Drop the slider. Have a simple short add for the 5-page website. Simple list of services: Website Packages,Template Packages, Hosting Packages, Logo & Domain Service. Don't give all the details. If they want to know they'll go to the main site. Have your contact info to include the link to the main site. I'd keep the facebook and twitter links, drop everything else in the footer. Might include a phone link...

Again, just my opinion.

Basically when you hit phone view you want to drop any animated photo galleries, excess scripts that run things like galleries and things that run on the page such as a scrolling testimonials block and the like. If you have a lot of images on the page you'll want to narrow them down a bit too. The less the phone has to load up, the more likely the person is to wait for it to do so. Keep it informational, text doesn't take much time to load, small images and such. :)

Your a pioneer on here Steve as far as RLM is concerned I dontbthin anyone rlse has done a full site. Your right about been behind generally though I was waiting for it all to blow over seen loads if trends come and go learned the tech sometimes for nothing. For your mobile site just have your logo and details and your prices they'll come running ;-) This is where web pschology would come in handy of what to put in and leave out. We all given opinions but we dont really know as yet Ill get a book on it web for the mobile if it comes out

If I'm not mistaken all content is loaded even when your screen size is small and you set to display none. It would take some scripts to not load certain content at various sizes. If the content wasn't loaded then you wouldn't see it appear when you change your browser window width. Steve's page is nicely done but is pretty bulky.

I don't mind the small delay (unlike others) as long as I'm not overloaded with information. My problem is just 'thumbing' down the screen 16 times to read it all. I'll go about 3 then drop the site. I still believe that all you need to show on a mobile is the basic info, and contact info. Users with phones want fast info and contact details, not a lot of info to scroll through. At lease I don't. :P

I believe all you need on a phone is that it can text and actually phone  I really don't get Smart phones - sorry people but hey it's my view. About 5 yrs ago in England it was so cool to have the tiniest little phone and then out come a Motorola and Iphone. They dropping the button phones over here so everyone has to have touch device :( To me and I know this is an ironic view since I got RLM but I don't think any website looks that good on a phone, tablets yeah, phones nah!

I have a website that I'm working on that serves as our pesticide logging resource. It's responsive and I use more pages with less content that is specific to the task. This keeps page length to a minimum and content focused on the task at hand. The form builder is the backbone of this site with 30 + forms. This saves us several hours a week keeping track of pesticide applications and we are able to access the data from anywhere.
