I still have an old laptop with XP, and earlier today, before I posted in this thread, I installed the latest version of the Editor, just to see how it worked. It worked flawlessly.

Hey Inger, just out of curiousity, what service pack did you have on that XP machine and was it XPpro or XPhome ??? When I purchased this box, I paid the extra for XPpro and have more than once, regretted that decision.

My old laptop is XP Home / sp3.

I guess I'm done with it then. CC tech support indicated that I "must have" SP3 and after having read some reviews by others (review 4 of 4 really got me at: http://download.cnet.com/Windows-XP-Ser … 30456.html ), I have no interest in SP3 and will not install it only to find out then, that there's something else that I must do to get HTML Editor fully functional.

Inger - Thank you kindly for helpful replies.

Hiya Chris,

Just to add to the thread, I used XP Pro for many years until this year and used the HTML Editor the entire time without any issues (well few issues mostly of which my computer was just too old to handle things lol). I didn't have to run in any type of compatibility mode at all.

Have you tried reinstalling it? Also, if you haven't done a reinstallation try:

uninstall the program
Run Ccleaner which you can get at http://piriform.com (free program to help clean temp files and remove registry entries from uninstalled files and such. Very trustworthy, many of us use it.).
Reboot your machine
Turn off Firewall and Scanner software
Reinstall the program
Turn firewall and scanner back on and see if it now works.

If you already tried the above then... never mind :/

I have not tried that but will give it a shot - thank you, Jo Ann

Chris,

Do read this thread

http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/guests- … post159499

and especially the post by Nils where he has posted a solution. His problem is not exactly like yours, but he has XP pro /SP3, and he has come up with a workaround for using the Editor. Maybe this may help you.

No go.. Best I can do is "no such interface supported". Installed it as administrator and followed the directions above. If not using an HTML5 doc, what do you normally use? New doctype as html5 doesn't work w/center tab but pulling an older html file from my HDD gets me to the error above (no such interface supported). Thanks again Inger - appreciate the reply.

I just did an install of the coffee cup on my Win 7 machine and cannot get the visual editor to work, even though the tab is there. There error message refers to using something other than HTML5 and so I tried switching this in preferences to HTML4, HTML1, etc. and the visual editor still doesn't work.
This is a major problem for me and I'd like a refund is this bug can't be fixed.

If you updated your HTML Editor and can not get it to launch it is because it is no longer there... The Visual Editor has been taken out of the HTML Editor. It has allowed CC to do some amazing things with the HTML Editor... But if you still have the old version and you can not get it to launch then I would suggest opening a support ticket. :D I would suggest that you try VSD out as it is a WYSIWYG editor and is simple to use...

Hope this helps!
