I'll take XP over Vista. :P
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

I still have an old laptop with XP, and earlier today, before I posted in this thread, I installed the latest version of the Editor, just to see how it worked. It worked flawlessly.

My new-ish laptop has Vista, and just for the sake of it, I started the two laptops and my desktop (win7) at the same time just to see which was up and running first and last. Make a guess! ;)

Yes, win7 came first, and Vista last ;) Even tough the old laptop has less memory, CPU power, electric power etc.

The article didn't help guys. "markup" is present. So I'm left wondering if the program has to be run in administrator mode or not. It's installed in power user and I get one error when trying to launch the tab (tab is present) from power user mode and entirely a different error when trying to run the program from administrator. Given the program was installed from power user mode, I'm not entirely surprised that it may not function (center tab anyway), from administrator mode. From the article, "all there and present" on roll call.

The path is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Chris\Application Data\CoffeeCup Software\CoffeeCup HTML Editor\Markup

There are six folders and three files and it "appears" normal. I don't know that XP is "archaic". It's still in use by a ton of big corporations and Vista seemed to go by the wayside as ME did. I have 7 on a laptop that I might try and install on but my XP box is really the one I would have liked to get this going on. Maybe I should have purchased Visual Site Designer instead.

Pretty sweet Eric, again - maybe I should have gone for VSD up front...

If your intention is building websites the 'drag and drop' way, VSD is a much better app. than the visual mode of the Editor.

Thanks Chris

I haven't tried to dress this site up much but have focused on examples of what users are asking for. If you want ideas just take a look at this thread. There's plenty of users that are very good at site layouts which for my S-drive site isn't the primary concern.

Hey Inger, just out of curiousity, what service pack did you have on that XP machine and was it XPpro or XPhome ??? When I purchased this box, I paid the extra for XPpro and have more than once, regretted that decision.

Hiya Chris,

Just to add to the thread, I used XP Pro for many years until this year and used the HTML Editor the entire time without any issues (well few issues mostly of which my computer was just too old to handle things lol). I didn't have to run in any type of compatibility mode at all.

Have you tried reinstalling it? Also, if you haven't done a reinstallation try:

uninstall the program
Run Ccleaner which you can get at http://piriform.com (free program to help clean temp files and remove registry entries from uninstalled files and such. Very trustworthy, many of us use it.).
Reboot your machine
Turn off Firewall and Scanner software
Reinstall the program
Turn firewall and scanner back on and see if it now works.

If you already tried the above then... never mind :/

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
