html editor freezes - Post ID 183301

I am using Ver 12.5 build 1206 on Windows 7.

It was working fine all day today as I am designing a new site, however when switching between an HTML file (my index) and the CSS file I had open, the program froze and was "not responding". I forced the program to close and rebooted (that usually solves a lot of problems) my computer and tried opening the files in reverse order, and got same condition. If I open another html file and the css file, I can switch back and forth and did not have a problem until I opened the index file again and if I switch between the index and the css file, it will get the "not responding". I have done this several times and anytime I go between the index file and the css file in any order, it freezes.

Anyone seen this or have any ideas?

Thanks.

The problem is known to the developers, and they have a new version ready to be launched any day now.

Don, do you have any flash element on the page you are working on? If so, comment it out, save the file and restart the program. This is a easy fix until the next version comes out.

@SirAGE, No flash, only java script, I also use same script in other pages that have been working, but now they do the same thing. I think I did an upgrade some time ago, but can be for sure.

@Enger Eik, how do you know they know? They have no place I can find where I can contact them directly, do they just do support by monitoring these posts? Have not had any serious problems up to this point.

We know because of beta testing of the software. The issue seems to be fixed now. And hopefully it will be released soon. You can not contact the devs directly. But you can always open a support ticket. Or if you have suggestions the devs do look over the Suggestion Threads of each programs forums. :P

You can contact lots of areas of CC by using their Contact page which you'll see a Contact Us link in the footer of the page which takes you here?

If you go to the Support up at the navigation bar at the top of the page, you'll find their contact details. And I know that they know because I've reported it myself, and I've been discussing it with them. BTW, my name is Inger, not Enger.

@Inger Eik, thanks and sorry about the name, just saw an "E". I did find a support link and entered same information and they did not seem to know anything about that type of problem, they asked and I sent the files to them to test.

Thanks to all for the replies, I have some other problems and will open a different thread with them later.

If they say they don't know anything about the freezing issue it must be because they are all running the new version which they are having on their launch pad, ready to go any moment.

I was experiencing this same error. However, I found that the only time I ever had this was when using the "Recent Files" to open files inside the html editor.

as long as i was opening files from explorer or dropping them into the editor, i never had the freezes or crashing.

either that's just complete coincidence, or an issue with the recent files.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
