Hi Forum
Getting a web site underway which all works ok in preview but then has minor glitches when live.
I've been Using 'smooth scrolling' . When the site is first loaded the smooth scrolling doesn't seem to load or fire up but then after a couple of clicks then seems ok.
www.gaiaforms.co.uk

I used the Festival theme as the bones for this.
Thinking that my site might have glitches I loaded up the whole Festival theme site to a spare site...
www.earthdrawn.co.uk
To see if it behaved the same way. I was suprised to find the smooth scrolling was far worse!

Does any one have a fix for this or is it safari on my iPad or quality dependant on which PC browser you use?
Thanks T.

Hello from Sunny Bali

Yes the smooth scrolling on that theme is shocking, across all of the browsers I use

Cant check out the site you put up www.gaiaforms.co.uk as it seems there is something wrong. But if you have used the same thing on your site as the theme then if will be wrong,,, I am not that into JS stuff so cant help out with what is wrong

Best suggestion would be to use a different js script to the one in the theme, I understand that one of the other CC members ERIC (who is an expert on Js stuff & maybe even be able to figure out whats wrong with the one used in the theme). he has made one I also believe that he has it somewhere on one of his pages, check out his profile ,,,, if not there a a lot more out there freely available

Hi Wayan
Thanks for the reply.
Sorry it was www.gaiaforms.com
Just glad to here it's not just me as I'm not a coder.
It's so annoying as it's just a couple of clicks at the start away from working perfectly.
That's the price of perfection though and it's usually high!!!!
Thanks T.

I heard of preloading things. I don't know wether that might apply to this sort of situation?

Hi Eric
Thanks for the code. Didn't seem to make any difference. On a PC it seems to not work on the first click bu fine after that.
I flagged this up with Scott as I used the Festival theme as a basis for this.
The problem with the Festival theme was the smooth scrolling was almost none existent with Safari on an iPad. It all seemed a bit messy! I uploaded the Festival theme as is... unchanged, straight out of the box to www.earthdrawn.co.uk to check this out. Something's amiss with it.
Thanks Tim

The earthdrawn.co.uk version of the theme (exported from FF version 2.0.193) fails to smooth scroll for me on the first click, as reported by the post above. When I export the theme from version 2.0.196, the smooth scrolling works on the first click. It seems to me therefore that
(a) that there is a difference in the theme provided with the different versions of FF, or
(b) that there is a difference between the program versions in the files (e.g. the js files) generated by the theme.

Hi Frank
Just checked
I am using build 193.
I could have sworn I'd updated it to the latest version 196 but obviously hadn't!!!!
I don't have time now but I will try the update and hopefully that will sort the problem
Appreciated
T.

Hi Tim.

It was nothing esoteric. In Firefox I just viewed the coding of the index.html page by pressing Ctrl+u on the keyboard. Line 7 says
<meta name="generator" content="Responsive Foundation Framer 2.0.193">
