Was a combination of your menu layout (with just one small alteration and different text link colours), and his layout from before, with his gradient background etc,, did a bit of editing on images for logo and flag to make then smaller and fit better,

thats it basically not too difficult or complicated

Do you mean just a list, or such a list that the slideshow is made of? The slideshow is just one of the components, the Orbit.
An ordinary list with images can be made using the element 'list container' (not the 'unordered list'). Into the list container you can insert images. By default they are displayed vertically, but if you set the list container to display flex, you can get the images in a horizontal line.
