Using Direct FTP instead of VSD auto...

I have 2 sites on Yahoo, which no longer allow uploads from within VSD. So, before I make some changes and send them up with Direct FTP.... one question...
Will edited files replace existing files, or do I need to delete the original file first? For example; if I change some text and switch a photo on one page, do I delete that page then FTP the changed page?
I'm used to letting VSD handle all the "housekeeping" since it knows what's been changed and what it needs to upload. :)

It gets trickier when manually uploading a VSD site. Not only do you need to upload the HTML pages, but you will need to upload the files folder each time. This is because the software slices images on a page. If you upload just the HTML, the images could be distorted or missing. If you want to be safe, the entire website should be uploaded each time.

I hadn't thought of that. Might be the way to go for now.
Thanks, Scott
I have another question, but I think it needs to go in the SDrive area.... heading over there now....

I think I'd change hosts if that happened to me. Yahoo to me is extremely overrated with sites and email. They still expect you to pay them 20 bux a year just to use pop3 mail lol. Very behind the times there. Anyways, I would move my site rather than go through all that hassle.

I will eventually get around to moving my never-finished always in the works site , but I have one client who's paid up on Yahoo for several more months. I just want to replace the Flash form on his site with a new HTML form for now.

I looking at moving my work website. Were hosted with Charter now which is fine for a simple website but now I'm building and inventory script that needs a bunch of mysql. Had a small chat with tech support because they say it's supported but I can't find anything on the server that allows me to build my database. One more chat and if they can't point it out I'm moving it. They had the guts to tell me to enable their site builder to accomplish it and the first thing I was welcomed by was a webpage with a theme that had Hilary Duff's photo in it.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

How many sites would be improved if they just had a photo of Hillary Duff on them?

I've been wanting to try out the Web Access Manager for ages, but can't add any httacess stuff with Yahoo (they supply their own password-protected pages, etc. if you want them).

And it's no go on SDrive right now, so I've been lingering. I didn't want to go to a totally different host just for that, but with the new FTP set-up, I'm thinking of jumping over to SDrive anyway and leaving WAM to collect dust awhile longer. :)

She's been after me for years to add her picture beside mine on my site, but I've resisted.
