I can open my files with CFTP, but I am unable to save any changes - the Save button is grayed out.

In the editor view in DFTP as soon as you make a change to the file that's open, an asterisk (*) should appear on the tab beside the file name and the Save button should immediately become available.

If this is not happening but you are still able to edit the open file, I would suggest removing the software and doing a fresh install using the current release, which is 6.9 Build 2014.
It's available from your product download page: https://www.coffeecup.com/help/myproducts/.

Running the V6.9 Build 2014 installer will also remove the current installed version. You can check your installed version by going to Help->About Direct FTP in the menu.

Unable to "SAVE AS"
Asterisk shows up when file changes, but unable to save as anything but original file name. Ver 5.X there was a save as option, as well as only needing to hit save and not have to select local or remote every time. is there something I am missing?
Thanks--
Al

Local pc is ctrl+s
Server is ctrl + alt + s

Thanks for the response
I want to save it with a DIFFERENT file name, local or remote doesn't matter, DFTP 3,4,5 had "Save as" option (which also renamed the file in the editing pane), DFTP 6 appears not to be able to CHANGE THE FILE NAME from the editing pane (or anywhere else) either when uploading or editing (At least I can't find it). Been using work around by changing names once file is uploaded to server but that can be/ is a real pain and just ain't right. (Almost every other program ever written since DOS 1.1 had option to change file names, so maybe I am missing something? It's gotta be there somewhere!)
Thanks again
Al

I looked and it won't do a Save As to the server.

Strange, no? Not only will it not do a "Save as" to the server, it won't do a "Save as" anywhere else either!
"Save as" option available on 5.X
Hopefully on the next version it will return! (Anyone listening?)

GS, I just tried it on mine. I can save local and remote without any problem whatsoever. I cannot "Save As..." or I don't know how to do it.

A "Save As" allows me to rename the file before saving. How are you doing your "Save As?"
