recover old ftp passwords - Post ID...

I have an old registered version of CoffeeCup 2008 on my old computer. I have the latest version of CC on my new computer. Old CoffeeCup had a built in FTP app, Free FTP 3.0. Sadly, I let the ftp app "speed dial" my passwords for me and have forgotten some. I've found them encrypted in my registry. I've exported them, but I see from the forum that the new Direct FTP uses a different method of storage. (Beside, I really should re-write my passwords down.) Indeed, I've imported the registry hive to my new computer but Direct FTP ignores them.

So, please, how do I decrypt my old passwords from the registry so I can re-enter them for the new ftp client? CC support can send me a private email or post a private ressponse if this is a secret. (Although I see there are shareware programs that have figured it out.)

Thanks,

I <><

Might I also suggest investing into the CC Lockbox! It stores all of your user information including usernames and passwords.

You can try the following password revealers which work well and no, you don't have to pay for them.

Simpli software's PWReveal password revealer:

works with about 90% of software out there; if you can display the field with the password hidden behind the row of *** you should be able to read it.

You can also try this one if you have no joy with PWreveal.

I haven't used it but have heard it works well also.

I have no affiliation with these vendors and hope I have ruffled no feathers posting links. (Hey, they are freeware anyway!)

Dave.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
